RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2026

I don’t get this. Most of it is just the stuff they’ve played for decades. Great for casuals, but I find it head-scratching that anyone who is a hardcore enough fan to have an account on here would want to go see a bunch of the greatest hits done over again. How is it perfect?
We're talking about a setlist that contains Rime, Powerslave, Hallowed, FOTD, SSOASS, Killers and POTO. That's the quintessential Maiden experience. Even hardcore fans should appreciate having freaking ROTAM and SSOASS in the same setlist. The final minutes of the latter song are arguably some of the greatest they've ever written.

And Powerslave is hardly a deep-cut? It was on its album tour, then revived 15 years later for the brief reunion tour.
Obviously part of the SBIT tour 8 years later. Another 8 years later part of the TBOS tour. And now finally, another 7 years later in the current one. Five tours over 50 years.

I like to complain about Maiden when the grievances are valid but this is getting just silly. This is "bitch eating crackers" tier:

It`s time to close the thread maybe even the whole thing, let`s face it Maiden are done . Aces is that bad you`re not allowed to have fun at a gig anymore apparently.
Let`s get over to Metallica, they look promising. They play loads of unusual songs, cheaper tickets, big crowds and have an actual pub drummer too. What`s not to like boys and girls.;)

Lars is great or perhaps used to be, sure he isn't the same person who played Master Of Puppets etc as he's older and doesn't practice as much.
But he's influental drummer who played on few milestone albums in the 80's. He's not technical but suits the best for Metallica.
Me last summer, after the fantastic Maiden show in Helsinki:

Ah, that was amazing! Great performances and a lot of songs I haven't heard live for a long time or never before. However, I don't really need to see this show again, so I'll skip the next leg, I'm short of extra money anyway

Me now:
INFINITE DREAMS... I NEED TO SEE THIS SHOW.
What show or shows do you have in mind?
I would definitely like see them live this summer aswell..

Funny enough there'd been plenty griping as of late they haven't gone as 'deep' with their setlist choices. It's gotten a bit better the last two shows in Frankfurt though.

Regarding the setlist appreciation talk:

Yeah, I'd love if a 1, 2 or 3 of the obvious section were replaced with deeper cuts, but a set that contains the following...

Murders in the Rue Morgue
Killers
Phantom of the Opera
The Clairvoyant/Infinite Dreams
Powerslave
Rime of the Ancient Mariner
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
Wasted Years

...is quite a treat, after all. In relation to the whole set lenght (both runtime- & song amountwise) it's probably not quite as exciting as the Future Past run was, but I think the "treat" section manages to balance out the amount of "less-exciting" classic staples rather nicely. Of course what one considers "exciting" is highly subjective, but I find myself liking this set a lot more than I initially thought one year ago.

That being said, keeping The Clairvoyant and shoving Aces High out would've been an absolute win move.

Would've loved NPFTD instead.

Hear, hear. The general excuse for Tailgunner seems to be that they could still use the same animation, but I don't think it's that good of a fit anyway, both theme- and pacingwise.

No Prayer for the Dying, Be Quick or be Dead or, even better, Judas be My Guide would've been fantastic, but alas, this is the set se got and as much as Aces High in its current state sucks (although a lot of people seem to really enjoy it at the shows anyway, so...), I'm quite happy with their setlist approach once again.

Would I want it to be more adventurous & sensible (=no Aces High in the encore? Absolutely!

However, could it have turned out so much worse & a lot less-exciting?
Oh yes.

If this is the final tour (and it's the last run before 2028 anyway), can't help but enjoy the fact that we finally got stuff like Killers, Infinite Dreams, Powerslave, Rime & Seventh Son all at once.

I always hoped they'd do the Loneliness of the Long Distance runner as a deep cut. Somewhere in Time is still something of an underappreciated masterpiece sandwiched between Powerslave and SOASS imho.

I don't really get the setlist complaints. It's not an all-timer hardcore set but it does combine the big retrospective tours into one convenient package (with only really one genuinely questionable song choice) without going full casual-only and now including two long-requested rarities. My own complaints beyond AH would be more to do with the pacing of the set and maybe the opening part since I don't think Murders is that great of an opener and Wrathchild is woefully overplayed.

But we had LOTB's original set and TFP before this, hard to really see how you could make a setlist that tops those while also serving the casual stadium audience. DWYBO instead of AH maybe for another song that's been out of the set for too long but would still appeal to the audience with a singalong part, and also doesn't sound like utter crap.

I just saw the show. They started so great specially bruce ,a few mistakes during killers the didnt end the song on time. And during rime bruce was out of time. But i have to agree they sound different is not because simon. Maybe they are using something different with the mix? Something digital?
And the screens very cool, but the big eddie i didnt like it at all.

Check the mistakes during killer and rime. Adrian was looking at bruce (the part of the storm when he wears the dress) and looking at steve saying he is fucking the whole intro
