For me 'not using any studio tricks or technology" meant "no modern improvements over sound and recording methods etc.".

That's a logical interpretation too, so we'll see... Given Bruce's earlier output and the recent Balls to Picasso reimagining, however I'm quite confident that they want the album to sound sonically great too and there will be some polishing touches etc.

But yeah, it remains to be seen!

he also mentioned not "stitching" the songs together after the fact, so basically how all the Steve epics are done where they typically record in pieces

Really enjoyed the keytar, theramin, taiko drums, and all the other bells and whistles. It’s great to watch people having fun on stage and trying different things sonically. A lot of people here have clearly forgotten how to enjoy music, as the constant grumbling in this thread demonstrates.
