Prowler
Probably the cheapest, no-brand bass available in Steve's local music shop. Body made of chipboard and a neck like a railway sleeper. It’s surely nothing prestigious. One of his early starter basses. I was thinking it might be a BC Rich or a Rich knockoff, though, from its headstock but that still doesn’t look quite the same.
Best type of instrument to start on; it tests your resolve and sees if you really want to keep playing. I've lost count of how many kids I've started teaching where their parents have bought them Fenders, Gibsons, PRSs etc only for them to lose interest after three months. Best to start with a piece of firewood with the promise of something nice down the line if they stick with it. They are the kids that are fun to teach as they are driven to get the nice guitar.
