Adrian, Janick and Dave's guitars and Steve's basses

I like to see that Adrian uses affordable pedals in his setup. I think it conveys a message to aspiring players that you don’t need custom, boutique and vintage gear to sound great.

TBH a lot of touring guitarist's pedalboard consist of affordable Boss Pedals and Tube Screamers. Because of the classic sound and, more importantly, worldwide avalibility.

True. It’s why Ampeg amps are used by loads of bassists around the world: classic sound and can be hired from practically anywhere.

Tbh, vintage and boutique pedals are really only used by fret wankers and for guitar YouTubers to show off. Most players use consumer level gear like Boss and Line 6. Mainly because they sound good and work when you need them to.

Very true. Like I can't believe there's no official concert videos from the last 2 tours! Weird marketing.

I think Janick's rig and a video with Bruce are the ones left to be released from this series.
I think there could be a case for just drumming up general excitement and social media engagement.. I think we forget sometimes that outside of the forums, there are a LOT of Maiden fans (albeit maybe more 'mainstream' Maiden fans) who won't necessarily have been talking about them on here for months already :lol: So they'll be wanting to maximize engagement with video and more 'interesting' posts etc..

That being said I would of course love to see more behind the scenes footage, it's always fascinating to see into their production and so on

adrian smith's 2010 rack.webp
Can anybody tell me what did Adrian's 2010 rack include? Correct me if i'm wrong: I can see (from top to bottom), both Ibanez Tube Screamers, 2 Jim Dunlop cry baby rack units, Rocktron Hush Super C, Lexicon MX200 (main and spare I'd say), a Roland GR20 guitar synth, 2 Marshall JMP 1's and finally a Marshall 9200. I've always loved Adrian's tone from that era, but some things confuse me, for example, what's that thing above the pedals? A Furman power conditioner or something like that? And also, what's the black thing between both Tube Screamers and the rack unit below the Lexicons? (I'm too stupid when it comes to rack and all of that stuff)

P.S: During SBIT did he use this same setup?

- Unit above the pedal rack (right at the top of the rack) is the Wireless receivers.
- Black utility pedal between the TS808s - Whirlwind multi-selector.
- Unit below Lexicon is a Peavey TubeFX
- I think for SBIT the rig was similar but using the 6100 series 30th Anniversary heads? Or he may have been using the JCM2000s on that tour as well. He was definitely using the 6100 heads on the Matter of Life or Death run..

Thank you man!!

All good - I had made some edits to my original repsonse,

* double switch between TS808s is a Whirlwind Multi selector.

The units on the top of the rack -
* blue unit - that's a Peterson strobe tuner unit I think?
* 4 button switch - I believe that is used to select between the wireless channels for multiple guitars, and probably a cable option too. Suspect either a similar Whirlwind or other custom built unit.. Straightforward though

I also think the Somewhere Back in Time and En Vivo tours had some of Adrian's best live tones. In my opinion - followed closely by some of the 2016-2019 lead tones - there's a video somewhere (I can't find anywhere now though..) of some shaky phone footage from 2018/19 I think, of the solo section in Powerslave. Even though it's phone recording quality, there's this one high note that Adrian hits halfway through his solo that is just f*cking incredible sounding. It sort of sounded like parallel feedback, where you can hear the actual note, as well as some feedback/harmonic sound - absolutely screaming. I wish I could find that video..

I assume that's indeed a Peterson Strobe Tuner, I tried putting the image on Google Lens and it seems to be it. And the other unit from the top is probably the 4 button switch as you said, thanks again.
