Adrian, Janick and Dave's guitars and Steve's basses

For a second I thought it might be this one, which was previously owned by Dave, but this one looks to be a 3-tone sunburst, whilst the one Adrian wears looks to be a 2-tone sunburst.


Any thoughts @matic22 ?

As I said, probably one of loads of ESP Strats recieved by Dave between 1986 and 1990, when he got his Jackson.

Look at the post I was quoting. I know he got several guitars as part of his endorsement deal. What I was asking was whether or not it might be the same as the one Adrian was wearing in the picture posted a bit earlier.

I think it’s not the same guitar, because the year of the photo might be 1986 and by that same year Dave’s sunburst ESP already had HSH configuration, you can see Dave playing the guitar in this 1986 video during Wasted Years. In the reverb link that you attached the 1st photo that I’m attaching here can be seen.

Dave received lots of ESP Strats by that time, the cream one from SSOASS tour (Strat headstock), a baby blue (Strat headstock), an electric blue from 1986 (with ESP headstock) and many more, including a red one and a black one (there are photos of them somewhere in this topic) and obviously the sunburst that we’re talking about. Only the cream ESP and the 2 blue ones saw the stage. The electric blue ESP was seen in 1986 and I think Davey used it on SSOASS tour too, the cream one was his main guitar during SSOASS but I don’t know what happened to it after SSOASS tour, and the baby blue one was used between 1988 and 1990 iirc, this one was the backup during NPFTD tour before Dave got his white Jackson, you can see it in the Clairvoyant video.IMG_0901.jpegIMG_0900.jpegIMG_0899.jpeg

The electric blue ESP was also used during HCW and Iron Maiden in 1990 to throw around.

The baby blue ESP was also in the studio for NPFTD sessions.

Further, the one Adrian is holding is a two tone sunburst, the Reverb listed Dave one is a three tone sunburst (red between the black and yellow fade).
 
I’ve got a question, does anyone know what is the pickup configuration of Adrian’s Lado Lazer? Neck pickup appears to be a Bill Lawrence humbucker, but I don’t know about bridge pickup, and also, where is this guitar now? AFAIK Adrian only used it during SSOASS but it was never seen after that, I’d say that it was a replacement for the synth Jackson from SIT because it had a built-in Roland synth controller. Btw: what happened to the synth Jackson? I think it got a crack in the neck pocket (read that in this same topic) but I don’t know what happened to both the Lado and the Jackson after SIT and SSOASS, probably the synth gear was moved from the Jackson to the Lado before SSOASS?

Synth Jackson had a stress crack in the body. It's visible on SSOASS photoshoot. It's in here somewhere. The Lazer looks like 2 Bill Lawrence humbuckers, likely L500L and L500R. Lazer was one of the backup synth guitars during SOT (another one was sold by Matt's guitar shop, which was a Jackson Dinky, likely a prototype for the main one during SOT). All synth guitars were phased out after they started having live keyboards. Old synth guitars are pain in the arse because of the 24-pin cable, which looks similar to a SCART cable. Very unreliable.

Thanks for the reply! Playing those guitars must have been horrible because of that shitty 24-pin cable, thank goodness they use keyboards now.

I didn't realize that the second rack of Marshall heads with the HX Effects was actually used more as an in-ears feed for H, going through the iso cabs. I figured it was a back up rig.. I mean it could still be, I assume Pooch gets a L&R feed from Iso Cabs as well.. So good to get a more in-depth run down from the Curator of the Smiths-tonian himself!

I suppose the second rig is geared specifically for a good monitor mix. The mix from front of house isn’t always what you want to hear in your monitors.
 
I think the iso-cabs also prevent phasing issues with the main Marshall. Iso-cabs are much more controlable than a stage microphone. It makes sense.

Also, I think he runs different effects for his IEM mix than his main Marshall. At least the levels. TBH, Dave is doing the same thing at the moment, but in digital Axe FX realm (3 outputs: Pooch (FOH), Tater (monitors) and cab (stage cabinet).

Yeah for sure - I mean at that level the mic on the main cabs would be split so that FOH and Monitors are completely independent of each other. But definitely still a cleaner mix for IEMs if using an ISO cab. I wonder if he has any of the main cabs mixed in as well?

I doubt it because it would be a nightmare phasing-wise. Before TBOS, he used to have his main amp in his IEMs, but it seems like there were issues with that. (2nd Marshall rack was not there before)

Also, it looks like he only uses the IEM amps as power amps. The preamp/gain is coming from the main amp, which makes sense.
