Caught Somewhere is great, no doubt about that. It has it all, the vocals, the speed, the astonishing solos... Why not the best? Well, maybe I've just played it too much in the past years and so it fell behind a bit. It will probably jump right up again.
I love the intro, by the way. It just
soooo much fits in with the cover, you know?
SSOASS is amazing. Like, absolutely amazing. If you've read my original post, you would know how I feel about the song, especially the last three minutes. Godlike. However, the repetition of the chorus brings it (a tad, mind you) down, as those "a-bit-too-obvious-synth-choirs" in the middle do.
After all, both of these are in my "top 20", that is "my 20 favourites songs from any band, ever, with the possible exception of Dream Theater and Rush". Sometimes it's hard to pick one over another in these cases.
Isle of Avalon has a beautiful intro (oh, those asteroids flying overhead) and a very strange melody overall - I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's a rather weird song (much like The Legacy or Lord of Light are), it
takes you somewhere and I've just obviously haven't had enough for the time being.
H's solo is really... different. Interesting. Great. It might change in the future, of course. The difference between my previous post and this one is rather huge and some of my previous choices from the last year... (seriously? No More Lies?
