In this group I see three bands that I really love a lot:

Candlemass
Dire Straits
Helloween (this one I like the most)

And then after a huge gap, I pick:  Amon Amarth (don't know many songs, but most stuff I heard I like)

I only like few songs from other bands.

People probably have no clue about (how great) that band (is).
A big omission in their knowledge of the metal genre.

AC/DC and Helloween are the only two bands I really know out of this group...which makes me wonder how fair this thing is really gonna be...for all I know Candlemass could be great but I've never heard of them before.

I really wouldn't write them off if you have only heard a few songs, or even heard one whole album.
In the band's discography you can hear more different singers than in Maiden (5), and not every album was a particular success. So even if you might have heard something you don't like, something else might be different.

Sorry to be persistent, but I am telling you this because I can't imagine that you don't like the style of this band.
I think I will open a topic with several links to songs on YouTube.
