Which songs should be played live?

At least one surprise would be nice. Something that they usually don't play in a non-hits tour, like Moonchild during DOTR.

I really think this comment of Paschendale being to complex and therefore getting dropped has to be put in to perspective if referring this theory to why Starblind or Isle of Avalon will not be played.

Firstly, Paschendale had not been played live for over 5 years prior to its appearance this year.  That is a long time to remember how to play a complex song and its solos (in fact, this is why I feel the majority of Maiden's early songs apart from frequently played 'classics' will never again appear - ie it would take Maiden months to remember how to play Alexander The Great, let alone practice it).  Whilst there are complex songs on TTF, the band has recently written, practiced and recorded them and therefore the song structures should still be in the brain.
I see your point, but I wasn't really talking about whether some songs will be played or not due to their complexity, but whether a song could be dropped to make the audience more lively for the gig. Paschendale was mentioned only because of the reasons it was dropped, since they could apply to BTATS perhaps as well. I wouldn't really know how complex some stuff is to play, since I'm no musician.

Hey no probs at all. You are right in regards to them dropping BTATS as they thought wrathchild fit better....unfortunately.

My point is that if they dropped P-dale for reasons of musical complexity they may still be able to pull off any of the songs off The Final Frontier no sweat.
We will soon enough know if the new songs work live...

I really hope they play Starblind. As for the song being to complex, besides a heck of a work out for Nicko i do not see the complexity.

Yeah, I certainly agree with that, and I hope that some song being complex doesn't mean it's not going to be on the setlist. Regardless of the songs, though, I'm probably going to enjoy if there's about 6 of them from the new album.  :)

I think certain songs were put on the 2010 setlist with the intention of dropping them for TFF songs. Based on that here is my predicted setlist based on the ORIGINAL 2010 setlist.

Intro: Satelite 15 replacing Mars
1: The Final Frontier replacing The Wickerman
2: El Dorado replacing Navigator
3: Mother Of Mercy replacing BTATS
I thought it would make sense of the first three TFF songs opening the set. One thing I noticed about the 2010 show was that the first three songs were the 1st 2nd and 3rd songs on thier albums. The band wanted to drop these later to make room for the first three FF songs. Also with BTATS out of the set it leaves room for an extra FF epic.(we'll get to that later)
4: Wrathchild replacing El Dorado
Since Eldorado is earlier in the set now the band can throw in a classic. It doesn't have to be Wrathchild but I felt that was most likely.
5: Isle Of Avalon replacing Paschendale

I chose this because I think Paschendale was one of the songs that was put in the set with the intention of later dropping it. IOA seems best fit to replace Paschendale. They are both Arry/H tunes and both run close to the same time and IOA just fits there.
6: The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg
7: These Colours Don't Run
I thought that the two AMOLAD songs were paired because they wanted to keep them for 2011. Therefore they stay in the set.
8: Where The Wild Wind Blows replacing Blood Brothers.
Remember when I said they had room for an extra epic? This one and Starblind are the extras since they dropped Blood Brothers too. There is a huge chance this one will be played and it is most likely going to replace Blood Brothers
9: Starblind replacing Wildest dreams
I’ll Admit this one is just wishful thinking
10: No More Lies
They need at least one DOD song
11: Brave New World
12: Fear Of The Dark
13: Iron Maiden
These three are guaranteed

ENCORE
------------------
14: Coming Home replacing Running Free
Instead of running free they can play this at the start of the encore and end the show with Hallowed Be Thy Name
15: Number Of The Beast
16: Hallowed Be Thy Name

That’s about it if they played this I’d be quite happy.

If they play NML this time I'll be amazed. It isn't that great a song and it's taking up room for a classic or a TFF epic.

If they choose to include a DOD song, I'd rather have the title track (or maybe Rainmaker somewhere else in the set, before a longer TFF song maybe?).

The title track got a significantly better response from the audience than No More Lies (at least in Pori), so I very much doubt they'd play NML.

NML was very well recieved at the denver show. I remember being a bit dissapointed when they did DOD because I knew Paschendale was supposed to be played there. :(

I wouldn't mind hearing a DoD song, but only if it's Rainmaker, Paschendale, or the title track. No More Lies is kind of like Wildest Dreams to me - complete filler.

Final Frontier.
MOM.
Coming Home.
Isle of Avalon.
The Talisman.
Wild Wind.

I think that is correct except I think Starblind WILL be played.  Talisman might not due to that VERY lengthy inro.  And Satellite 15 might be the intro music before TFF

I think there's a very good chance S15 will be the intro to the whole concert. Maiden could do something really creative with that. Maybe have a model spaceship on wires and have it fly in with Bruce in it when his vocal part comes in.
