Judging by their writing contributions on tracks (since, looking at the song credits throughout their discography, none of the guitar players are credited for a song together, its always one guitarrist writing with Harris or Dickinson), which out of the 3 guitarrists you feel has written your favorite Maiden riffs (or rhythm/melodic parts). Let`s not count solos.

It's Adrian for me and by quite a bit. I think his riff writing is the most stand out of the 3 guitarists.

When I think of Dave I think of smooth intros that Steve builds a song around (exception - Breeg assuming he wrote the main riff).

When I think of Janick, I think of recycled acoustic intros from other albums and straightforward rock licks (exception - Montsegur although this is basically a Fallen Angel rip off).

Adrian is the only one I'd say, particularly in the reunion era, writing actual compelling riffs. Wicker Man, Paschendale, Brighter Than a Thousand Suns, El Dorado, Speed of Light, The Writing on the Wall, etc. Not to mention all the classic material like Icarus, 2 Minutes, Sea of Madness, etc.

Janick (not Jannick) Gers by far. His songs are the ones I get most excited for on every album release. I don't care if he recycles intros or riffs, most of the songs co-written by him are fantastic, with 4 of them in my personal top 7 IM songs.

1.The Book of Souls / Dance of Death (cannot decide which one I like more)
3. The Talisman
4. Blood Brothers
5. When the Wild Wind Blows
6. For the Greater Good of God
7. Shadows of the Valley

If we're talking riffs, it has to be Adrian.

Janick writes a lot of chords + melodies. The main riff in The Book of Souls is an absolute beast, though!

Dave...come on, now. I think you have to have written more than like 5 songs to qualify.

They are all obviously good, and have their moments, but Adrian is by far the best general riff maker/player of them
