Which is of the guitarrists in Maiden is your favorite riff/rhythm writer?

As fairly obvious by my screen name here - 2 minutes to midnight is a simple but mean riff, and it stands as my favourite iron maiden riff. Maybe not from a technical stand point, not maybe even a creative stand point. But from the pure heart feeling to hearing that riff. I think maybe it was on of my first introductions to Maiden, that and Run to the Hills - which I argue doesn't quite feature a riff but rather a chord sequence.
I generally gravitate towards Adrian tracks, as they just generally sound ballsy and grunty - but there are moments of magic from all three guitarists. I think the water gets muddied when you have to determine who has writing credits for a song, vs. who might have actually come up with a particular riff.

Dave is great too of course. Either he is picky or lazy, he has less songs - riffs. But when he writes, they are all instant classics or really killer riffs. Like Nomad, Benjamin Breeg, Rainmaker... not to mention a lot of classics in 80's...
Janick is another gem. Sometimes repeats himself (Be Quick --> Judgement Day and some of the similar intro chords) but has many unforgettable moments like the Book of Souls riff.

I dunno, I wouldn't count Nomad as classic or a killer riff. It's the worst song on the album, the whole riffy bit before the epic stolen bit is irritating and that's something repeated in Age of Innocence and Man of Sorrows. Absolute lower tier Maiden

I love a lot of Daves contributions but at this stage I think he's more miss than hit.

that's subjective of course but recently I saw a Maiden tribute band here, they played many hits, classics, deep cuts but Nomad was like the climax of the show, not just for me but for many people there. Stolen bit works great live :) And btw someone who believes in "everything is a remix" I'm ok with that dose of "inspiration".

Subjective, indeed and I do love the stolen bit. It's the rest of the song that ruins it for me :cheers:
