Stygian wins on being the best combination of some of Iron Maiden's and Metallica's best aspects possible, while still maintaining an own identity. The drive, the rhythms, the riffs, the changes.

November Rain should have lost to Coma anyway, no way it should beat Stygian.

Besides, Stygian vs Stargazer would be a far better final than NR vs Stargazer.
 
Seriously now, what's so bad about November Rain? Is it:

1) You just hate everything about GNR?
2) You just hate Axl?
3) You just hate ballads?
4) Something else?
 
I liked it in my teenage years. But that was before I delved further into metal and discovered many better songs (to my liking).

In the end, compared to its opponent, November Rain is a whiny over dramatic emo-song. Stygian has everything I like about music. Fantastic exciting riffs and rhythms.

I'm glad someone feels the same way I do about this song (and GnR in particular).
 
I'm not huge on November Rain, either. I like the parts with the solos. I'm fine with ballads in general, but rock ballads do have a tendency to annoy me. It's going up against Iced Earth, though, my vote is obvious.
 
But this game is about songs, not bands. :p Why not tell us what makes the song worse than November Rain? Did you listen to it?
 
I've listened to the entire album it's featured on some time ago. I'm not spreading blind hate on Iced Earth, I've heard my fair share of them. And I've pointed out what I dislike about them many times before.

Yes, because every Iron Maiden fan in the world should listen to bands that sound like Iron Maiden. Perfect logic there.

I'll take this one... I go for drama. Guns song I find more dramatic. There are several IE songs that could have beaten it (Dante, Question) but Stygian doesn't get there for me.

And poke fun at the ending of November Rain all you like, but the way that ending builds up is classic. If you don't like the words, maybe it's worth noting that Slash is playing a ripping solo at the same time! :cool:
 
Pretty much my thought on Stygian too. When it comes to big epics, I like drama and excitement. Stygian has neither of those for me.
