USA Politics

Yeah, the "land of the free" is doing a lot of thoughtless censoring at the moment. I thought the left were the snowflakes? I thought the left is trying to take rights away? But hey, the Trump admin is begging Denmark to send over eggs. I bet that's what Trump supporters, the common clay of the new West you know… morons, had in mind. Gotta be happy with all that "winning" at the moment.

Thankfully it was restored:
By Monday, however, the site was operational once more – and the URL had returned to its original formulation, with the letters DEI no longer present.
In a statement that did not elaborate, a defense department spokesperson told the Guardian: “The department has restored the Medal of Honor story about army Maj Gen Charles Calvin Rogers … The story was removed during auto removal process.”

I don't think that this even falls under DEI at all, diversity /inclusion of what? those people were Americans thousands of years before the white men set foot there.
I fully understand not tolerating a general be dressed in drag, but Trump administration is going to the other extreme applying an horizontal demolition and then some, with this DEI thing.

Also the successor to CRT, which they also couldn't properly define or understand. But hey, now they're trying to get "Trump Derangement Syndrome" classified as a mental illness lol

Yeah, now we're loling, but it's not going to be funny when it means Trump opponents get detained to what will probably be classified as mental institutions.

To be honest I'm not laughing about any of this. None of what is happening is funny. I feel bad for the millions of sane Americans who voted against Trump and have to endure this bullshit. I'm angry at the millions who stayed home and didn't bother voting. I've long given up hope for the millions of brainwashed morons who voted for him in the first place.

Trump is doing all the things the right spent years accusing Obama and Biden of doing; they had literal years where they were outraged over the most nonsensical hypotheticals. Now that Trump is doing these things it's suddenly okay because their team is "winning". I'm sad for the non-MAGA Americans who have to suffer the consequences of this administration, but I get a bit of grim satisfaction that the MAGAts are acively hurt by Trump's actions. Reap what you sow and all that.

I am now paying about a dollar more for gas than I was a year ago. Still awaiting James (or any other Trump voter) to chime in with how Trump has managed to lower their gas and grocery bills as this was something that was clearly important to them while Biden was president and throughout the campaign. This should be a fairly easy thing to defend.

That 10% tariff on Canadian energy seems to be helping the prices go up! Also the Trump administration has asked for eggs and we've declined to send them...for some reason.

But proving we don't give a fuck about Europeans/Canadians is more important than.... paying less for gas and groceries?

Turns out the guy who just proposed that bill in the Minnesota Senate yesterday just got arrested for trying to hook up with a 16-year-old. Weird.

I believe the US politics thread should be in the Madness forum now. Two fresh piles of dung:

First, a vulgar display of power in the Greenland saga:

https://edition.cnn.com/2025/03/24/world/greenland-prime-minister-us-usha-vance-intl-hnk/index.html

Key members of the administration accidentally included the chief editor of The Atlantic in a Signal group chat where they discussed a US attack on the Houthis.

https://www.theatlantic.com/politic...-accidentally-texted-me-its-war-plans/682151/

In addition to the level of incompetence required to end up including a news editor in something I assume should be a maximum discretion discussion, Vance and Hegseth make it fairly clear neither of them would support US aiding Europe in anything.

If I were of the paranoid type, I wouldn't rule out that Trump and Putin are already making agreements like "we take Greenland, you can have Svalbard".
