USA Politics

Trump has consistently been pretty much the worst candidate either party has put forward (including primary challengers) since he first ran in 2016. I would rather have a weekend at bernie's situation with Biden than have Trump be the president again.

All this talk about someone other than Biden being the democratic nominee reminds me of the “here’s how Bernie can still win” meme from 2016. It’s not going to happen.
What should happen is not the same thing as what will happen.

Even if he’s taken out of the race due to his health, the Biden campaign would just become the Harris campaign.
Extremely doubtful if Biden exits before the convention. Harris is famously unpopular both within the party and nationally. If the convention is a free-for-all, someone like Newsom seems much more likely.

I would rather have a weekend at bernie's situation with Biden than have Trump be the president again.
Yes, but even better to have neither, if possible.

Meanwhile, popular former governor of Maryland Larry Hogan announces a Senate run:

I don't think he will win, but he has a shot and it means resources away from must win states like Ohio and Montana. Huge blow to Democratic Senate prospects (I also don't think Hogan would run unless he genuinely thought he had a shot at winning).

I see what you mean, Trump may be terrible for the citizens of US but I’m a citizen of the world so I value the POTUS from the prism of world peace first and foremost. Biden’s record is terrible on that aspect.
Of course, if I were American, I would think differently.

I'm not an American citizen either, but I understand very well that the world's largest super power becoming a fascist state is bad for the entire planet. Trump's record is far worse in my eyes, but we won't agree on that, so no need to discuss it.
Furthermore, there is unfortunately a tendency for the rest of the world importing whatever happens in the US to their countries. Hell, we have QAnon cultists in Germany, despite how America-centric that conspiracy theory is. Trump would be undoubtedly bad for the US and the world.

Yeah, like the fact that drone strikes under Trump far exceeded the number under Obama and that for Biden that number is also lower than Trump's.

Biden's handling of Palestine is worthy of criticism, but Trump has been vocal that he'd act the same if not worse, so yeah: such a great record :innocent:

Donald Trump = Biff Tannen... And do you remember what happened in Hill Valley in Back To The Future 2 when Biff Tannen was the leader of this town and of the world ? Only violence, hatred, criminality, drugs dealing, etc... I don't want a world like this and most of american citizens don't want it either... So, even if Joe Biden have some troubles with memory, of the two evils we must choose the lesser, and Joe Biden is the lesser, no matter what you think of his politics.

Well, reading the news this story it feels like the NATO comments have completely eclipsed coverage about Biden's special counsel report. The more Trump gaffes make this election about Trump, the better chance Biden will have of winning a second term.

Biden probably will try to stay out of the spotlight as much as possible (well, as much as a president can I suppose) and let Trump continue being his unhinged self. The actual campaigning will happen after spring. Opportunities like these show that it's still early in an election year and so many things will be forgotten by November.

I think you're right, although Biden really does need to get out there more (+ his cabinet members). He needs to prove that he is mentally capable and still up to the job. Of course my worry is that he actually isn't up to the job and isn't able to do a high level of public appearances, which is a much larger problem.
