There is start an inquiry and then there is actually voting for impeachment. We will see, I do not see how it helps them a great deal though and there is a serious risk of bit backfiring on them.
 
Perhaps the Democrats feel that whoever their chosen 2020 candidate is will have a better chance of beating Mike Pence than beating Donald Trump?
Even though he won't be removed from office the Dems might be hoping that Trump's standing will be damaged enough to guarantee failure next year, or enough that establishment Republicans grow a spine and stop backing him so that he's forced to quit for "personal reasons".

It does seem strange to me that they want to go through impeachment proceedings when they can remove Trump from office in just over a year.
 
It’s really not about trying to remove Trump, everybody knows that’s not going to happen. It’s about holding public hearings and making this dominate the news cycle in the hope that it’ll tank his approval rating and weaken him in the election.
 
217 Democrats plus Justin Amash support impeachment. Impeachment is a simple majority of the House.
 
I wonder how bad this has to be for the Senate actually to turn on Trump and convict him. Would it be enough if it was proven that he held back financial support from Ukraine for personal gains (i.e. to hurt a political rival)? Or would it need to be direct bribes to Ukrainian officials? Or would it have to be proven that he had hired an assassin to silence someone for good?

In normal circumstances, he would be toast by now. Even hinting at something to a foreign head of state that could be conceived as trying to achieve personal goals for himself through foreign policy ... should mean big trouble for a President. I can't see a CEO of a private-owned company getting away with something similar.

Hadn't it been so scary (and tragic), you would have to admire Trump and the alt-right movement for creating a political atmosphere where even live footage of Trump murdering someone would be seen as fake news if he told it was fake news. It seems there is no longer possible for a media outlet to have the trust of both sides of the political spectrum.
 
My God! All this just seems like a damn with hunt against Trump. NEVER in history have I seen anything like this. Now the mayor of Minneapolis said he is completely against Trump coming here to speak. Also, something police officers do when they go to watch a president speak is to wear their uniforms to show respect and now they're saying that they don't have to do that. Everyone really needs to quit all this bullshit and leave him the fuck alone and actually give him a chance to really do his job.
 
A friend of mine posted on Facebook that the impeachment process is only occuring due to the color of the president's tie. That ALL democratic houses have initiated impeachment proceedings for the last 4 republican presidents. While that may all be true, it's still bullshit.

Nixon resigned before he could be impeached for spying, essentially, among other things.
Clinton got impeached for lying about a BJ, but was not removed from office as the senate did not follow through.
I was not aware that a democratic congress tried to impeach Bush, but he did lie about WMDs in Iraq, I'm guessing it had to do with that.
Now... let's put that in perspective, Nixon spied, Clinton and Bush lied, one under oath the other about motives.
Trump... oh boy. I love that people defend him crying "witch hunt," when he still has scandals following him from when he was a business man. His ghost writter for Art of the Deal has attacked his character, nothing major there. BUT.... 6 pending lawsuits at least. scores of women alledging all levels of harrasment including walking in on naked teens in one of his beauty peagents, has been caught saying all sorts of sexist, racist and offensive comments. His lawyer and head of campaign have been arrested and charges brought forth. He got caught paying a porn star for sex, he's fired people who refuse to be yes men or work dirty like him, the Russia scandal alone, even if no collusion was found conclusively, would have been enough to bring down anybody. ANY of the scandals I just mentioned, just ONE would be enough to brind down anyone else. Remember Howard Dean? His campaign ended when he said, "Yee-haw!" at the end of a speech. Seriously? This is FAR from a witch hunt. Oh, and what I mentioned is just off the top of my head, I'm sure I'll be fact checked, and that's fine. Point is, it's not just ONE thing, it is a number of things, from relatively small things like lying about the path of a hurricane, too yuge things, like lying ALL the time about EVERYTHING. Fact checking agencies have run out of Pinochios.

I would like to see proof of all that, but NOT from left wing liberals making those claims. I've never seen a president gone after in this way. Trying to dig up all these scandals on him. They didn't do that to Bush or Regan. Why Trump? For some reason, the liberals really hate the guy and want him out, more so than other presidents.
 
There was no need to "try" to "dig" up anything. it was all in plain sight to see. I love how people feel no president in history was so villanized, when Reagan was shot, Kennedy, Mckinley, Lincoln and Garfield were killed.

All of this has been reported on The Wall Street Journal and Fox News. Remember, Evidence is evidence, regardless of news source. Interesting people question if 2+2 is 4 only because of where it's printed.

I am pretty sure this isn't true. Neither Bushes were impeached. A lot of people wanted Bush II impeached but Pelosi notoriously refused.
 
I must admit the main issue is both my parents are die hard republicans who really support Trump and hate the liberals and sometimes I get caught up in what they're talking about which is what led me here to post. OK, time to go back to keep trying to completely ignore all of this BS.
