Problem is, the unions helped get Obama elected -- maybe even played a critical role in states like Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan.  I'd be surprised -- but impressed -- if he turned on them now.

If he's going to do it, he has to do it now, because he will need all 4 years of his first term to get those people into jobs and make the areas semi-prosperous again.  But it would be a strong, bold move.  Like I said, it doesn't have to be drastic, but I think it's only fair.  EVERYONE needs to look at the way business has been done.  Not just the CEOs, not just the upper class, but the workers, too.

I voted for Giant Douche.  Tho, I was close to picking Turd Sandwich.

I was reading yesterday, about the Senate races, and the one Senator that found out he lost on his birthday...

I found this mildly amusing...

Obama's Use of Complete Sentences Stirs Controversy

In the first two weeks since the election, President-elect Barack Obama has broken with a tradition established over the past eight years through his controversial use of complete sentences, political observers say.

Millions of Americans who watched Mr. Obama's appearance on CBS's 60 Minutes on Sunday witnessed the president-elect's unorthodox verbal tic, which had Mr. Obama employing grammatically correct sentences virtually every time he opened his mouth.

But Mr. Obama's decision to use complete sentences in his public pronouncements carries with it certain risks, since after the last eight years many Americans may find his odd speaking style jarring.

According to presidential historian Davis Logsdon of the University of Minnesota, some Americans might find it "alienating" to have a president who speaks English as if it were his first language.

"Every time Obama opens his mouth, his subjects and verbs are in agreement," says Mr. Logsdon. "If he keeps it up, he is running the risk of sounding like an elitist."

The historian said that if Mr. Obama insists on using complete sentences in his speeches, the public may find itself saying, "Okay, subject, predicate, subject predicate -- we get it, stop showing off."

The president-elect's stubborn insistence on using complete sentences has already attracted a rebuke from one of his harshest critics, Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska.

"Talking with complete sentences there and also too talking in a way that ordinary Americans like Joe the Plumber and Tito the Builder can't really do there, I think needing to do that isn't tapping into what Americans are needing also," she said.

SMX and Obama would definitely get along well. :P

"Talking with complete sentences there and also too talking in a way that ordinary Americans like Joe the Plumber and Tito the Builder can't really do there, I think needing to do that isn't tapping into what Americans are needing also," she said.

I'd say complete sentences are preferable to the sentences that Palin comes up with.  I can understand that Palin has alienated people because she talks badly, but it's pretty sad if Obama's alienating people by talking correctly.

Here in IL, we have been faced with a string of Governors that have had problems with legality.  I think that's the second or third Gov in a row that has been brought up on charges.  (I think the last one is or did serve prison time)

I also saw that one of the cases in the Supreme Court against Obama was thrown out (the one that says that he was a British citizen, instead of a Natural US citizen)

Calm down, LC.  This is typical Chicago politics--the only thing amazing about this story is that the governor was dumb enough to pull this stunt with Obama's seat, with everyone watching.  Mayor Daley isn't that stupid.  It seems like every public official in Chicago is on the take, but at least they keep the streets clear of snow and the trains run on time.  God, I miss that town sometimes.  (I'm serious.)

Yeah, trains running on time are an evil thing. Thank goodness that doesn't happen all too often in Germany.

The Mayor of Baltimore has gottenn herself in hotwater. Sheila Dixon has been indicted on 13 counts, involving favor contracts and sweetheart deals. She also snuck in a $5,000 pay raise for  herself, at the end of last year.

They're all corrupt. For any substantial office, you can't win the election otherwise. The best of them are just great at hiding it. Like Obama - no one wins the White House without making dirty deals, but he's smart enough to keep the stink on his henchmen instead of himself.
