I don't see it that way. I could, if one of the candidates was "meh", and the other was godawful. They're both godawful.

I have done tactical voting myself in the past, but I wouldn't do it if both top two candidates were terrible. I'd vote for my desired candidate even if he had no chance of winning.

Wasted? If you gather enough people around, you could spark a change for the future. Do you think if, let's say, Johnson received %10 of the vote, people wouldn't take the Libertarian candidate in the following election more seriously? Not sure if I'd agree with that.

To me, if any of the candidates do not represent you in any way and you're forced to vote, it's not time to oblige. It's time for a revolution.

That is dead on ... Perot ran mainly based on budget deficits .. no coincidence that (at least for a while) both parties took that seriously and Clinton/GOP Congress actually got down to no annual deficits for a bit .. neither party seems to care about that anymore .. but it put the issue in the spotlight for a while.

Beyond that, getting 5% of the vote means major party access and 3rd parties have a lot less hoops to jump through to get on the ballot in many states .. a process that costs millions of dollars not to mention time ... and they get money from the Presidential fund from people who check that $3 box on their tax returns. Plus it makes it easier to attract good candidates. Johnson was a bit goofy, but he and Weld actually had more experience than any ticket this year holding office. Major party status will make it easier for them to attract better candidates from President on down to state legislatures next time around. This applies to any party, but the Libertarians really seem to be the only one with a shot at 5% this year.

It would be nice if it meant the party got into the debates which is really key ... but the debate commission is really a joke and hopefully will be changed at some point.

Jill Stein is the worst option of all. Worse than Trump and Hillary.

Honestly, I didn't pay much attention to her campaign so I wouldn't be opposed to writing her off from my previous statement. I was focused more on what Johnson/Weld did.

She wants to ban mandatory vaccination, thinks the pharma industry should stop testing medicine and supports homeopathy. In other words, she's actually advocating doing irreversible harm to her own people and playing with their health.

In other words, she's out of her goddamn mind?

Or maybe, the green in Green Party stands for a particular plant.

People like her really make it hard for people like me to support environmentalist movements.

Well, I guess she could gather quite a few voters with that message. There's plenty of people who like to think that they know something the "sheeple" don't know, and they are often strong supporters of alternative medicine (and strong believers in conspiracy theories surrounding science-based medicine) ...

People like her really make it hard for people like me to support environmentalist movements.
A girl I know from my chem. eng. studies (she was the year under) has joined the Green party in her hometown in Norway, and that kind of things is a party-internal battle she has said she will have to fight.

Despite you find silly people everywhere, in all parties. A member of parliament from the Labour Party in Norway spent thousands on fortuneteller telephone services ...

I can see that I am all for conservation, but it is laughable on one hand when someone like her drones on about all the science behind global warming for example then on the other hand pretty much ignores medical science not to mention basic math

That's the thing. I became involved with environmentalism when I was out of school, and I was caught between compromising politicians and truly scary esoteric spiritualists. I was not exactly comfortable with it.

Odd the fortune teller did not tell them this news would get out and they would look like a total fool .. I think he/she should ask for a refund

The best way to request their services would be to put an ad in a newspaper, without your name and phone number, with the following text: "Seeking clairvoyant for advice. Call me."

Is she one of those people that thinks vaccines cause autism?

Crap, I was going to ask you about my elbow

Playing too much 'tennis', eh?
