UK Politics

Glad Parliament took care of this. Seems like the best bet is vote #3 and actually passing it, getting a new PM and start round 2 of negotiations.

The customs union and confirmatory referendum were the closest so there might be some ground to be made. The customs union vote only lost by 8 votes. Bear in mind that the cabinet has abstained from these votes.

Though EFTA and EEA lost by a ton. Maybe I am wrong, but does not the EU see a customs union and EFTA/EFA (if not actually remaining in those, at least being under the majority of the rules of those 2) going hand in hand ... I fully admit I can be wrong about this.

I think a customs union would be a unique customs union to be negotiated with the EU. I did read about these earlier. EDIT: read about each of the rejected options here @bearfan

Some of these might be revisited on Monday if Theresa can't get her deal through by then. Ian Blackford (SNP) pointed out that some of these options got more votes than the deal did and said that since Parliament can't agree on anything there should be a general election.

I think they should have a system to find the least objectionable option. Perhaps asking MPs to rank each option in order of preference or elimate the LEAST favourite one by one.

WE NEED A BREXIT SURVIVOR.

@Night Prowler GET YOURSELF TO LONDON

Yeah, but then all you would have is a bad rendition of Parliament singing Hallowed Be Thy Name ... No deal is probably better than that

The government is preparing for a vote on the withdrawal agreement part of the deal tomorrow - this includes the divorce settlement payment from the UK to the EU and the Irish backstop. It does not, however, include the "political declaration" which details how the UK's future relationship with the EU would work.

Some MPs have argued that the withdrawal agreement and the political declaration can't be separated. This seems to be the only way that the PM can have a third "meaningful vote" in accordance with the Speaker's ruling.

I reckon it'll be a long extension and participation in the EU Parliament elections. Pointless elections in normal circumstances but "FUCK KNOWS" how it might turn out this time.
