JBMG is perfect for the song, but that's not what we're voting on here (or not supposed to be, anyway). As a solo, it's energetic and emotive, but compacted within an incredibly limited dynamic range. TD is far better as a standalone.

Hard to pick... TD seems to be more elaborate, but I think I enjoy listening to JBMG more, so I'm voting for it. I also think that both of them should have already been eliminated, because they are nothing exceptional.

Agreed. Certainly neither is better than The Wicker Man.

Yeah, certain pairings turned out to cause some unfair eliminations and advancements. I feel that the final ranking will be full of absurdities but unfortunately it's unavoidable in this game.

I agree. I'm pretty sure Dave Murray POTO and Adrian Smith WTWWB could have be better ranked in a round-robin format.

But a tournament like this would take forever.

Full of absurdities, that goes far.

There are no unfair eliminations. And I assure you that I tried to keep the number of "unfair" pairings to a minimum.

That was nothing against you, I realise there is no ideal way of doing this kind of tournament. Different pairings would give us many different rankings, right? So it's always a bit unfair in that case and there's always an element of bias if you pair by hand. To get more accurate results we would have to pit each solo against every other and work with that gigantic amount of data... or something.

No not necessarily. Definitely not many at least. In the beginning I made sure that solos would have more than one chance to get through. Then, I've worked largely with a tournament scheme e.g. a la Wimbledon. I've kicked out a biased voter. If I made one mistake then it was being too late with doing that (so yeah, there could have been some unfair eliminations vs Dave's or Janick's solos; I've heard no one complain about that). I've carefully spread the strongest solos (made sure they would not meet too early, as in seeds). So no. Nothing unfair about anything. Not an inch more than in other regular games. On the contrary, even.

I think the question isn't so much about being "unfair" but rather getting different results every time a pair was to be formed from different solos. Fantastic job at this survivor though, Forostar, lots of dedication put in it.

Thank you. And this sounds entirely different (and more fair). Still:
different results every time a pair was to be formed from different solos.
No, not necessarily every time. Yes, if a pair consists of two different solos, of course. But a solo could still win or loose (again) if it were paired against another opponent.

Result of round 3, 14th battle: Adrian Smith's The Duellists solo (032) is eliminated. 062 advances to the 4th round.

Round 3: 15th battle:

This...is really hard.

TCDR is incredible, interesting, and timed so perfectly (especially over that riffing), but Wasting Love is such a beautiful solo (and from Janick!!!). I honestly don't know.
