CSIT actually sounds kind of rote and contrived. Each measure consists of different kind of "trick", like "now I'm gonna play some trademark H pinch harmonics, then some melody, than an upward run, then some tapping, some bends, then some notes from some peculiar scale (which is actually the best part of the solo IMO), then end up with some more tapping and divebombs". It sounds more like guitar exercise than a "real" solo.

DW just... flows :D
 
Disagree. Sure, H uses all his tricks in that solo, but it flows, too. He uses several of the same tricks in e.g. Heaven Can Wait, and it doesn't flow half as smoothly.

Different World is a worthy adversary, and I fully see that some want to vote for it, but in my book, it must bow out to a mightier fighter.

CSIT it is.
 
CSIT is wonderful, but but compared to the warmth, melody and ease of DW is is all flash.
 
The pinch harmonics at the beginning of Adrian's Caught Somewhere In Time solo send my mind into orbit every time I hear it. This solo is the greatest piece of music created since neanderthals first banged wooden clubs against rocks.

I really love the Different World solo but it stands no chance here. CSIT is out of this world.

TD solo isn't something that an italian person could say "ma che bello!"

JBMG on the other hand is "bellissimo!"
