Thrash Metal

This is what I call a light show!
I own this dvd. Saw them on this tour open the Operation Rock n Roll tour (MC, Dangerous Toys, Motorhead, Alice Cooper, & Judas Priest). Had to wait until 2016 to see them play a headlining set with Mike on vocals. It was worth the wait!

The first couple of years from about 1986 to 1991 it looks like they were just a straight up thrash festival actually...in 1991 is when the first few "not so thrash bands" sneak in....Extreme, Primus seems risky bookings at that time compared to what they'd done previously but I guess they were trying to make the festival bigger at the time :)

With Les having been in Blind Illusion previously and being a longtime friend of Hammett and Larry LaLonde making his name in Possessed and... well, Blind Illusion also, I imagine they felt quite at home there :D

Hehe that's true. Pretty cool year too, 1991. Armored Saint had Symbol of Salvation out, Extreme had their smash hit Pornograffiti out (although I'm not into them) and Morbid Angel with Blessed Are the Sick, Obituary had Cause of Death out and Primus and their new album Sailing the Seas of Cheese. Also Psychotic Waltz played 1991 - one of the most underrated progressive thrash/power bands of all time - they were touring here with the debut (and best album) Social Grace.

I'm not all that much into Morbid Angel and I like Pornograffiti instead, but I agree with the rest of your post - also, yeah, Psychotic Waltz are awesome.

Manowar, Nevermore, Merciful Fate, & Sodom I have never seen live so that would have been a great concert! Nevermore & SOD broke up and Sodom has not toured US in 10 years. I saw King Diamond open for Slayer, but have never seen Merciful Fate.

Like this new Testament song better than new cd title track (which wasn't bad, just like Pale King better):

Does that genuinely start with the lyrics:
I was awakened by the howling of the dog... or perhaps a wolf.
He doesn't say "a" dog; he says "the dog". Like the way you would talk about your own dog e.g. "the dog was barking".
I've got a dog that I take for walks... wait, maybe it's a wolf.
Mate, don't you remember?

Saw Metal Church last night. Their first Houston performance in three years (which I saw) and first time in 26 years with Mike Howe on vocals (which I saw also). Same tour I saw last year in Chicago but in my hometown this time. Great performance. Crowd was very into it. Singer Mike and guitarist/songwriter Kurdt many times thanked the crowd for the reception. This leg of the tour (Texas leg) finally has them changing one of the new songs they are playing

dropped Reset and replaced it with Needle and Suture
