No, he did 10.57 but in high school which is mega fast and in my opinion even more impressive than 10.37 for that age.

Both athletes would have qualified from the preliminary round of the men's 100m at the 2024 Paris Olympics with their respective times.

The crowd was great, the production values had something of US show blended with European minimalism.
I had a great time watching it and looking fwd for more shows like this.

Flying from Copenhagen back to Athens, my new ASICS Superblast 2 (Paris color way) have arrived and waiting for me :D
IMG_4124.jpeg

In all China there isn’t my number for this (soon to be collectors item) color-way, nor in HK, Singapore or Copenhagen.

In other news I am running a half marathon in Athens the other Sunday; with my deplorable level of fitness anything below 2hr 06min or below 6min/km pace will be a success.

Shanghai Marathon is 1st December I may run but absolutely no time to prepare for a below 4hrs time.
I also applied for Tokyo marathon next March, theoretically I’ll have time to prepare if I’ll be selected.

You are really into running shoes, aren’t you?

Best of luck on those races!

Since the end of the summer holidays, I have started running again. As I have started playing for a basketball team, at the moment the priority is to improve my speed (most players are significantly younger than me! ) and do shorter runs with my daughter, although I managed to run 5.1 km in 22 minutes a couple of weeks ago. Today, I ran 3.15 km in 13 minutes

Too much! One very important motivator to continue running is to keep wearing my shoes down so I can try new ones hahah!
Of course I could retire the shoes early but this feels like cheating so I only retire /give away the shoes if I hate them.

The other thing is that when I like some shoes too much I buy them again and again, I already have 1 retired pair of Superblast 1 and 2 pairs with ~360km on each so no need to buy the Superblast 2, but I fell in love with the color way and it was limited edition so…

This also slows down the process of running with new brands /models but it is what it is! :D

I don't always like Jakob Ingebrigtsen but man, kudos for daring and failing but nonetheless finishing that half marathon, his first.

Run this half marathon today with practically zero preparation and I've missed my goal for 42 seconds.
Goal was 2:06:14 thus a 5:59/km pace. Instead I run a 2:06:56 thus a 6:01/km pace.
I caught a cold and I was so tired and out of form that I walked some metres of the very last kilometer even if it was downhill. Usually I am all out in the last kilometers, let alone the last.
The race started quite late too, 8:30 am and I had to do the last 7 km below the burning sun. Also there were no much spectators, virtually only the volunteers were cheering for us.

21.1 km
2:06:56
6:01/km pace
Avg HR 162
Elevation 80m
Avg Cadence 155 spm
Avg. Stride Length 1.0m

Anyway, I gave everything I had, that's for sure.

Live: BERLIN MARATHON MEN at KM 28
On women we had a massive WR, with Tigist Assefa taking more than two minutes off the women's world record. And this was her third marathon ever folks!

Tigist Assefa (ETH) 2:11:53 WR

One year ago in Berlin Marathon Tigist Assefa did a massive WR by 2 minutes, debuting the ADIDAS EVO 1, a shoe with engineering to the limit, costing 500€ and still loosing lots of money as it can't be mass produced (first release of the model was south of 600 shoes globally).

However, that shoe is proven to be the trend setter of a new era for the running shoes and thus the most important release since 2017's Nike Zoom Vaporfly 4%.

In the below interview, a VP of product management in Adidas discusses about that shoe and the Adizero & EVO product lines since then.

I must write something about the enormous WR in women category, Chicago, 13th October. Ruth Chepngetich broke the 02:10:00 a time that would place a man in the elite category!
As a matter of fact, she finished 10th overall (!) on that day.

Some people suggest that a woman breaking 2h10min is bigger than a man breaking 2h00min! Incredible.

On men's side John Korir broke 2h03 and became only of 10 humans to do so, wearing my favourite running shoe, ASICS Metaspeed Sky prototype version 4.
That must be the first Marathon majors won by ASICS in quite some time. Good to see others brands in the podium except Nike & Adidas :)

It's been a while since I last posted but I am still chipping away at the running 3-4 times a week. I recently got my fastest 10km time on my Garmin (56:30), and my Vo2 max is creeping up very slowly - it has finally hit 45, after starting at under 35 two years ago.

10k in 56:30 is a great progress man!

I'm baby-stepping my way to my running form again. After my injury in March -which lasted until September- I started smoking and lost my motivation to the point that I couldn't run for a straight kilometre if I was running alone.
Add to that other changes as sleeping that was disturbed, eating without restrictions, more professional dinners =drinking more often, travel constantly, etc.

In any case I kept on running one way or another and managed to log 1,000km since March anyway. Now it's getting a little better. I stopped smoking and I'm training myself to run without stopping by doing lots of treadmill. Last Sunday I run with the group 20km without stopping and at a respectable average pace of 6:30 /km.
Despite still being on the move I find the time to do either treadmill or running to discover the new places I'm in.

Ideally I would try to run a sub 3:39:00 marathon next spring, or a sub 1:39:00 half marathon. But hey, just to be back in form and running properly again, it will be wonderful already.

After some months with a focus on running 5 km whenever I went out for a run (best time was 20:11 before the summer holidays; most times I have been able to do it in a little over 21 minutes), I have decided that I am going to gradually try running longer distances (easier said than done as I would need to find the time!). Last Sunday I did 6.82 km in 30 minutes and felt really good; the target is to run 10 km in under 45 minutes.

It's absolutely stunning to have almost broken the 20min barrier. Which tells me you got 42min for 10k easily -after the adjustment period of course and adaptation to the new distance.

Thanks for the kind words! To be fair, it was an easier circuit than the one I usually do, with some gentle downhill stretches and not many uphill ones. :)

Not sure how accurate my Fitbit might be, but it is currently estimating my VO2 max as 60, which is not too bad for an old fart.

Done! I have just run 10 km in 43:56.

I knew the wine and food I had at a very nice Greek restaurant yesterday would help me do it!

I have a friend who used to say that breaking 40 in 10k (or 20 in 5k) is the threshold when a runner leaves the childhood and becomes a man!
Do it Ghost!

I am 48! If I ever get to run 5km in 20 minutes or 10km in 40 minutes, I will probably be an old man.

Edit: I will be eating loads of dolmadakia to get ready though.
