The Post Your Own Music Thread

Checked out the record Foro, it's damn good. Your coherence as a band is very impressive. Shout out to your bassist, he/she really carries the album for me.

Liked Second Circle the most. Some tasty drumming from you on that track as well.

Today we've officially released our album on CD.
Orders are ready for take off !

Gula - Gula

Label : Eigen beheer | Archive under post rock / post metal

Release type: Full-length CD

Bart M. : Gula is a Dutch band that did their first live performance last year and now release their eponymous debut album. It is always exciting when you get a debut album to review because you literally don't know what to expect. Sometimes they are a big disappointment, sometimes it is reasonably to very good and occasionally there is an album that leaves a deep and lasting impression. 'Gula' goes into the third category.

This album takes us on a trip through six inhospitable, sonic landscapes, each of which has a wonderful, versatile composition. ...

A review from our debut album on Dutch Progressive Rock Page (in a mini reviews special for the albums from the edges of prog world) we're very happy with!

[..] Take a hefty dose of Krautrock of the more psychedelic flavour and spread it on a base of metal, then add a spoonful-or-two of doom to some of the slow-but-heavy parts, pour in some dirty psych blues for the guitar sound, and a pinch of progressive rock for intermittant, surprising changes. Shaken, not stirred. We don't want everything mixed too well, we still want to be able to taste the different ingredients. [..]

Started in January and finally finished my latest Lego brick film for my band at the weekend. For the song, Just When I Wasn’t Lookin’ which features a guest vocal from Martin Jakubski who fronts a Maiden tribute band here in Scotland, namely, Maiden Scotland.

After a pretty quiet 2018, I am starting a new musical project with a singer I’ve been collaborating with for the past year and a half. It used to be a full band but half the band moved to California so now it’s just the two of us. This is the first of what will hopefully be a regular stream of material going forward:

It’s a heavy rock song with maybe a bit more Maiden influence than what I’ve done in the past. I play guitar, bass, and programmed the drums.

A review in Rock Tribune, our first in a printed magazine. Belgium's biggest heavy rock/metal mag, also available in Holland. Naturally we're really happy with this:

(translation)

"Gula hails from Rotterdam and this disc was recorded analog in one day. Why make it difficult if it can be easy? Although, on second thought. The name Gula refers to the goddess of medicine in Mesopotamian mythology and the album is inspired by film and philosophy. The music that Gula brings is therefore anything but easy to consume in one bite. Their psychedelic doom contains a lot of atmospheric passages, which can make it difficult to keep your attention focused. Yet the album manages to suck you into the story from the first song to the last. Especially the combination of the vocal style of the front woman and the synthesizer effects contribute to this."

Hi guys. We've got a new demo out. It's called ''Nocturnal''.

CIRCADIAN RHYTHM
The Latin words circa diem translate to ‘about a day’. Circadian rhythms are pretty ancient. They are a result of life that evolved on a planet that rotates over a period of 24 hours. Being able to anticipate daily environmental fluctuations is remarkably useful, hence these biological clocks are virtually ubiquitous. Disrupting them causes complications. Circadian rhythms are therefore fascinating on a molecular, medical and evolutionary level.
