The original walk-on Wickerman Eddie, 2000

Wow! I had no idea there was a walk on Wicker Man Eddie. It looks weird. I even think the big one at the back during Iron Maiden looked odd too.

I actually like this one quite a bit more than many of the other walk-on Eddies over the years. I suppose the material and design don't quite translate as well and don't look as good as they should in the dark from afar.

I think the Wicker Man walk-on Eddie is not that bad. It's rather nice and it's early 2000's after all. At least is thematic to the album. It worked better as a big Eddie.

edit: I still think they could have done a BNW big Eddie (it would have looked captivating methinks, although again it's early 2000's) and even a walk-on one, cloud creature. Like they did with TXF big Eddie.

They probably thought The Mercenary worked better live. It is definitely an easier song for Bruce than The Fallen Angel.
Agreed on both. And The Mercenary has better crowd participation, plus it is a bit more anthemic. Fallen Angel is such a great and interesting rocker.

lol Kalata you're always so positive - I think calling it goofy is way too polite

Yeah, probably the worst one they ever had. That big wonky body just looked dumb. Might have worked better just being the traditional head more like this :

It was played 7 times according to setlist fm, should have stayed on the set imo:

I didn’t realise that it was rotated with The Mercenary for a few shows. Other than rotating Dance of Death and Paschendale in 2010, is this the only other time they have rotated songs?

Surely the worst ever walk on Eddie. Shoddy, shoddy, shoddy.

Re Fallen Angel

Fallen Angel is a strange little setlist anomaly in Maidens history, I believe.

So The Mercenary was played for the first 3 nights on the tour in 2000. Then FA comes in and rotates with TM night by night. FA gets played 3 times then it's back to TM for the rest of the tour.

Enter 2001. Maiden play 2 small shows in London as a warm up for South America. Mercenary is in its usual set spot, Fallen Angel and Silent Planet get tagged on after the normal encore on the first night.

These 2 tunes are played again after the standard 3 song encore for the second night in London and the gigs in Mexico and Argentina. Then both are dropped for the gigs in Chile and Brazil.

I can't think of any other examples quite like this, for both Fallen Angel and Silent Planet. Can you, boys and girls? Apart from songs that got dropped after 1 or 2 shows.

Can't argue.
Given how most walk-on & big Eddies betweeen 1998-2005 turned out, I'm kind of glad they didn't... :D
I like some of the stage Eddies from those years, mainly the big ones.

I think so. Both songs were cool for the set.

Silent Planet in particular is odd, it was a single yet they barely played it. Is there a story behind that? Recommentation by the record company, but Steve had no interest?

Yeah, really odd (the only single with that treatment!). Hooks In You for example was planned as a single and it was played almost during its whole tour. I guess Silent Planet wasn't the original planned 2nd single. But Maiden to listen to a record company?
