The Marvel Thread (Spoilers, and language!)

IMO...

Perfect solution: Marvel Studios get the rights back. They continue making Spider-Man movies with Garfield in TASM universe, but they fix them/make them better. Then after A:IW2, some reality warp happens and Spider-Man moves to MCU universe. If A:IW movies go the Infinity Gauntlet way, there will definitely be some reality warping done.

If it's really the end for TASM/Garfield: don't introduce Spider-Man until after A:IW2. The text above says "2018 release date"... better move it to 2019 after A:IW2. Have it lead the Phase 4 with 2nd Hulk movie.

From that article, my emphasis:

We've been provided with some of the leaked documents from the "Sony Hack", and they offer up more details on the deal which was being discussed between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures in regards to the future of Spider-Man.

The deal is hardly "mostly done"; it may not happen at all. If negotiations are ongoing, there's no reason to assume they're still on the conditions that were true at the time of the email hack.

I'm guessing the use of "was" may be less important than you are implying, but you could be right. I think it'll happen. Sony needs to do something to win back some public favor.

Agent Carter, anyone?

Good to see Bubs again.

A story about chasing down stolen Stark tech? Yep, standard Marvel story idea. Nice twist keeping the Stark mostly out of it.

Calling it now, Leviathan = Hydra. That seems obvious.

This is the right thing to do. I hated first 3 SM movies, liked the 2 TASM movies. I just hope that the new rebooted Spider-Man movie with Marvel Studios influence will be up to MCU standards.

Most people are predicting a Spiderman cameo in Civil War - which makes a lot of sense. But this comes down to a lot of questions.

Who will be Spiderman? What universe will he cross over with, if any? Feige is coming on to produce Spiderman films, will Sony be the first company allowed to make MCU movies outside of Marvel/Disney?

Who will be Spiderman?
Peter Parker (not Miles Morales) not played by Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield.

What universe will he cross over with, if any?
He'll be in MCU, it's a complete reboot of the character. Except for the fact that they won't repeat the origin story in movies... same as how they did it with Hulk in his movie. Gamma ray accident, turns into Hulk / bitten by a spider, Uncle Ben dead, great power, responsibility blablabla.

Feige is coming on to produce Spiderman films, will Sony be the first company allowed to make MCU movies outside of Marvel/Disney?
Yep, but Feige will have a big say in direction/storyline. Also the new Spider-Man movie might have some MCU characters/storylines, like S.H.I.E.L.D. etc. I'm sure Feige wouldn't do this if it meant Sony can do whatever. The only grey area are the Sony SM spin-offs... I think Marvel Studios can decide which MCU characters can be used and which can't. So if Feige doesn't like a spin-off, he can stop them from using MCU characters and then if it's a bad movie it doesn't affect MCU's quality.

Sony doesn't get money from Marvel Studios' use of SM in MCU movies, Marvel Studios doesn't get money from Sony's Spider-Man movie. Basically, Marvel Studios didn't need or ask for this specifically, they are insanely successful even without Spider-Man - Sony wanted and needed this. Sony's new SM movies will be much more popular when included in MCU. And Marvel Studios get to include SM in their movies, and quite possibly some villains they weren't allowed to before. I know some Spider-Man villains are also enemies of some characters from the Netflix shows, Daredevil and Spider-Man are friends, Jessica Jones had a crush on Peter Parker in high-school etc etc.

So basically MCU gets to use Spidey, and Sony gets a competent producer to help out with the Sony-based Spidey franchise.

I've read rumors it may be Miles. "Ultimate Universe" I guess.

Also, I thought it would be cool to see Spidey in the Infinity War Avengers movies. Didn't he play a pretty big part in the Infinity War comics?

He'll be in MCU, it's a complete reboot of the character. Except for the fact that they won't repeat the origin story in movies...
Thank H. I'm so sick of the Spiderman origin story being regurgitated constantly. If they included it in yet another movie it'd make me seriously reluctant to go see it.

So rumours are that Dylan O'Brien will be new Peter Parker, Drew Goddard will write/direct the movie (makes sense since he has ties with both Marvel Studios (was original showrunner for Daredevil) and Sony (was supposed to direct Sinister Six)) and it's supposed to be called The Spectacular Spider-Man.

But most importantly, Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns tonight :edmetal:

I wouldn't go that far, Carter was nice, but AoS is way better.

AoS after Winter Soldier > AC > AoS before Winter Soldier.
