The Israel-Palestine Conflict

I can agree with that. Yes, maybe Palestine does need to have a state. But at the same time, it has to be completely disconnected from terrorism. That whole ideology—“Death to Israel”—has to go. And then there’s Iran, stepping in to fund hamas or whatever comes next, with money and weapons. It’s a vicious cycle that needs to be broken.
I agree with this. But I think the only way for it to be acceptably broken is for the country with the whip hand to accept they are causing the uprisings through repression and to work with the Palestinians as equals. That probably involves some level of acceptance of minor violence, and likely requires a Truth and Reconciliation Commission among other pieces of work, in the veins of post-apartheid South Africa. But what is happening right now is so much worse than what happened on Oct 7, like...magnitudes upon magnitudes worse. That's the thing. It's not proportional, it's not a measured response. There are actors in Israel who want the total destruction of Palestine and as many of the people living there as possible. Hamas gave them the excuse to do it.
