The inevitable 1990s tour after Book of Souls Tour ends

I doubt they'd be that generous to the Blaze years. I would expect 3 songs from Fear, 2 from No Prayer, and one Blaze song (probably The Clansman since it works best in a live environment). The rest 80s songs. Using Live at Donington as a basis, it would probably look like this:

1: Be Quick or Be Dead
2: Bring Your Daughter... To The Slaughter
3: Number of the Beast
4: Wrathchild
5: Afraid To Shoot Strangers
6: The Trooper
7: The Evil That Men Do
8: The Clansman
9: The Clairvoyant
10: Tailgunner
11: Fear of the Dark
12: Run To the Hills
13: Iron Maiden

14: Hallowed
15: Heaven Can Wait
16: Running Free

I don't think they will though. They're not digging up enough rarely played songs to justify a whole tour of it (and to their credit, they at least pull out some rarities when doing these tours). I think a tour based on the new video game is likely, if anything. Although whatever they do, I think it's going to be most similar to the 2007 leg of the AMOLAD tour where they just alter the setlist to fit a certain theme. Which could very well be more 90s songs.

If they ever do this - which I doubt - I think we can expect a certain canon of songs to be played: Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter, Afraid to Shoot Strangers, Fear of the Dark, Sign of the Cross, Man on the Edge, Futureal and the Clansman, with Tailgunner and Lord of the Flies representing the "deep cuts". All these songs are tried and tested and have been frequently played in the late nineties and early 2000s. Anything beyond that would surprise me, and a tour like that would surprise me anyway.

I think if they did it, we'd get a few songs from the Blaze years - stuff Bruce has already done - and a few songs from the 2 Bruce 90s albums, and then a heavy amount of classics.
BYDTTS, Afraid to Shoot Strangers, FOTD, Sign of the Cross, Man on the Edge and The Clansman. Maybe one more from either No Prayer or Fear of the Dark.

If they actually play a whole tour exclusively to support Live at Donington (which i can't see happening at all), i think the set would look like this:

1. Be Quick or Be Dead
2. Can I Play With Madness
3. Man on the Edge
4. The Trooper
5. 2 Minutes to Midnight
6. Afraid to Shoot Strangers
7. Tailgunner
8. The Number of the Beast
9. The Clansman
10. Sign of the Cross
11. The Evil That Man Do
12. Hallowed be Thy Name
13. Fear of the Dark
14. Iron Maiden

15. Futureal
16. Wasting Love
17. Bring Your Daughter...to the Slaughter

Although they could easily drop Futureal for Wrathchild, moving either NOTB or Hallowed to open the encore. Or they could replace by a surprise (SBiT had Moonchild, ME had ATSS), both from the future (Wicker Man, BNW, DOD) or from the past (Remember Tomorrow or Prowler).

I think they'll 2007 this tour, play ATSS, Clansman and Bring Your Daughter and say "Hey, we did a 90s tour. Don't bother us with this again"

Futureal (or Be Quick Or Be Dead)
Man on the Edge
2 Minutes to Midnight
Hallowed Be Thy Name
Afraid to Shoot Strangers
Sign of the Cross
Heaven Can Wait
The Trooper
The Clansman
The Number of the Beast
The Evil That Men Do
Fear of the Dark
Iron Maiden
Bring Your Daughter
The Clairvoyant
Running Free

Being realistic, they could very well do a setlist like that and it would please both hardcore fans and play classics-fans.

That's actually a really good (and realistic) setlist.

When was the last time they played Heaven Can Wait? I see it popping up on a bunch of setlist predictions and I just don't understand why they would bust that song out again except for the "whoa oh oh" part, but now they've got Wicker Man and TRATB to fill that need.

That was one of my favorite tunes back in the day, but I just can't stand Janick's solo on it now. Adrian's was superior.

Considering how even the PoM and SiT albums were kind of screwed during the regular history tours (and those are albums from the "golden era", whatever that might mean), I don't see a 90's tour and even if there was such a thing, I doubt we would get anything that worthy... like, two songs from the No Fear, two songs from XI Factor and that's pretty much it, the rest would be the classics. And even that's highly unlikely.

Take into consideration the era's not thought of highly by many people (even on this forum it's much more divisive than the mostly unanimous "PLAY ALEXANDER LIVE!!!"), H and Bruce weren't in the band for most of the time and 'Arry had some rough times too, so he probably doesn't wax nostalgic about it...

It's a pity, because for a chance to see a full on 90's history setlist I would actually probably overcome myself, get high on Lexaurine and furiously attend it, panic attacks be damned.

Just out of curiosity, by which standards do you consider Piece of Mind screwed? The Early Days tour had four Piece of Mind songs in the setlist, which was on par with Killers and more than Number of the Beast... only the debut had more.

Screwed is probably a bit too harsh, but we got no Tame, no Still Life (even though they had another chance with the Maiden England tour) and Trooper is so overplayed I think they could and should add something more from the album, like Icarus. I admit that Eagles was a pleasant surprise, so I withdraw the "screwed" statement and change it to "could have been better".

Same goes for TNOTB - Number, Hallowed and RTTH are all staples and for the "history tour" they could dig up 22AA or CotD or even Gangland... however since I don't like the album all that much, I don't mind.

All in all, the Early days tour paid IMHO too much attention on the Di'Anno years.

That does make sense. Maiden's point was never "I'll replay my whole history to you guys", it was "We had some magic moments in our carrer and we want you to see this too, young padawan". I would hardly call the 90s a magic moment in Maiden's history, and the average fanbase definitely doesn't care for the 90s (except for FotD, Sign of the Cross and The Clansman. Maybe Afraid to Shoot Strangers).

I stick to my opinion that, if they intend to re-release Live at Donington, they'll just add 2 or 3 songs, drop some oldies from the actual set and consider it done. Otherwise, the "Legacy of Souls World Tour" is more likely: put some "new inedit" on the set, like
Revelations, The Clairvoyant, The Evil That Man Do, Phantom of the Opera or Heaven Can Wait
and consider it done.

C'mon, this is Maiden. They pull a Somewhere Back in Time World Tour and play 2 songs from Somewhere in Time IN BOTH LEGS :D
This is possibly because SiT is the album of the 1984-1988 period that the band likes the least, which is not the case for a lot of fans apparently.

It would never happend, but it would be very cool if it did!

Probably only some European and South/Latin American dates, and a few in North America (LA, NY, Florida, Toronto, Vancouver, Mexico City, Monterrey)

With songs like:
Bring your daugther
Tailgunner
Be quick or be dead
Afraid to shoot strangers
Fear of the dark
Sign of the cross
Man on the edge
Futureal
Clansman

And Number of the beast, the trooper, the evil that men do, Iron maiden and Wasted years.

Yes, i know. It's unfortunate, but only Adrian likes the album.
I'm just arguing that, if the band named the tour Somewhere Back in Time and ignored the Somewhere in Time album, they could do a Early Days tour and play...i don't know, The Evil That Man Do. I think they were pretty loyal on that small tour, but they could've dropped Another Life for Children of the Damned without a doubt

It would certainly belong on a 90's tour, having been played every tour except in 1999. :)
