The Future Past tour 2023

Part of me is pretty sad that we don't get a full-fledged Senjutsu (World) Tour like the Book of Souls tour. Some of the best Senjutsu songs combined with some great classic songs and an entire stage in the Senjutsu theme! But I guess we already had the Senjutsu themed stage during the LotB tour (which more or less felt like a SBiT or Maiden England styled tour to me).

And on the other hand, this actually IS a Senjutsu tour only with some addition of Somewhere in Time. By the end of the Future Past tour, we heard maybe 7 Senjutsu songs live, which is incredible! And considering that an AMOLAD style tour for Senjutsu would not have worked. I would have loved it, but i imagine people like this concept much more. Although it still feels different. I guess i need to get used to the idea of a tour with 2 huge albums as a selling point!

Anyway, I'm stoked! My 2 favorite albums in 1 single tour? There are many bands with fans who would only dream of that ....!

Would be great to see the background of Edward the Great during Alexander the Great honestly!

I have to disagree about that! Edward the Great artwork has very little to do with the subject matter & narrative of Alexander the Great and a brand new artwork designed for that particular song has a lot more potential... ;)

Outrageous prices on ticketone; 100€ for the back part and 130 for the front
Just looked and the only tickets on sale at the moment are two festivals, wacken and one in Italy.

€100 is for the Italy one which I think is reasonable for a festival ticket.

I paid around £75 for a U.K. ticket for London in 2018 so with inflation and what’s going on at the moment an extra £10/15 is not as much as I expected the price to hike up too.

I'm always up for new art, I just thought this would be great art. Or at least an adaptation or altered form of it.

They're definitely going to include Eddie in the AtG background though.

Also, it's entirely possible that they do 2 different worlds/stage sets again.

Senjutsu world:

1. Days Of Future Past
2. The Writing On The Wall
3. The Time Machine
4. The Parchement
5. Hell On Earth

6. The Trooper

SIT world:

7. Deja Vu
8. Wasted Years
9. Heaven Can Wait
10. Stranger In A Strange Land (Clint Eastwood cyborg Eddie)
11. Alexander The Great

12. Iron Maiden (Bruce and Steve in inflatable hands again)
--------------------------------------------------------------
13. The Number Of The Beast
14. Fear Of The Dark
15. Hallowed Be Thy Name
Between the SiT set and Senjutsu set rather than The Trooper should be Time Machine. Like literally taking the audience from one time to another 34 years ago. Stick Trooper in the encore.

This is what I predict they will play. Not what I want them to play

- *Bladerunner intro tape*
- Sea of Madness
- Days of Future Past
- Writing on the Wall
- Stranger in a Strangeland
- Heaven Can Wait
- Hallowed be Thy Name
- Darkest Hour
- Number of the Beast
- Wasted Years
- Lost in a Lost World
- Fear of the Dark
- Hell on Earth

Encore

- *wind, rain and storm effect track*
- Alexander the Great
- Iron Maiden
- Run to the Hills

Notes:

- I would personally take the decision to drop tracks like, Hills, NotB, Iron Maiden (especially Iron Maiden) for more underplayed tracks but I dont see Maiden being brave enough to drop so many staples. I would replace these 3 and really lean into the theme of the tour.

- I would never play Heaven Can Wait but Steve loves it. It is the most played track from SiT. I would play Deja Vu instead

- I would be shocked if they played all 3 of the epics from the end of Senjutsu and I feel like Hell is the most likely by far to be played.

- I know many don't like it (I do) but Darkest Hour does add a ballad and a drop in speed to the set and I feel they will want a slower track to take a breather in the middle somewhere.

My dearest girlfriend who I have been with for 5 years (and have known for about 18 years) asked me if she couldn't come along to the Future Past tour. She normally doesn't like metal music at all. She doesn't mind me putting it on but she doesn't listen to it herself. So I was already feeling guilty and said that she definitely didn't have to come because it's not her style of music and that I would only go because my father (with whom I normally go to concerts) is on vacation. But she was firm and said she would go with me because she wants me to be safe and also so I would have a good time instead of standing there by myself and feeling uncomfortable. So, it's settled. My girlfriend is going with me to the Iron Maiden show in Amsterdam in 2023! I pay her ticket, of course, but I'm happy to do so!

I feel tremendously blessed to have such a wonderful girlfriend and that she offered to go to a concert with me. I love her so much! I just wanted to share my happiness here!

See you at the Future Past tour next year everyone! :applause:
Blink twice if you're in danger.

Just kidding :P The great thing about Maiden is that they aren't very extreme (screams, growls, blastbeats, etc) and the shows are quite theatrical. As long as someone doens't despise any and all rock music, they'll find something to appreciate. She'll probably enjoy the show, even if she isn't a fan of the music.

So long as she doesn't interfere with his beers I guess it's gonna be OK.

Which old songs have a chance to return to the setlist? I think:

2 Minutes To Midnight - a classic and because it was played during the 1986 tour.
The Prisoner - Bruce wants to do it live again... (Children Of The Damned was played fairly recently and I doubt 22 Acacia Avenue).
The Clairvoyant - LOTB 2018 tour poster hints... (I doubt Infinite Dreams or Only The Good Die Young regardless of Steve's comment).
Brave New World - a Reunion era song that would be thematic and totally possible.
maybe a surprise return of Running Free/Sanctuary?

I guess the setlist will not have room for long songs like Phantom and Rime that were played live in 1986. Also, Trooper was not played live during the original SIT tour. This time maybe The Number Of The Beast will not be played.

Btw, Futureal would be so cool and fitting (like Final Frontier and Speed Of Light but more).

What were the hints to The Clairvoyant?

What do you think, is it possible that they won't be playing Days of Future Past?

Yeah, the tour is named after the song, but maybe it's just that, cool song name to tie two albums.

For example there is complitation album From Fear to Eternity. They used From Here to Eternity song name to name an album, but the song didn't feature on the album

Leaving that one out will free space for Stratego or some other song from Senjutsu or other reunion album.

7th Son of 7th Son - 5 songs (Evil in 2019 and others on Maiden England tour) Altough 6th song Infite Dreams was rehearsed.
ME tour was for a specific album (like this tour will be) and they played 5 songs (and rehearsed one more) from the SSOASS album, so I think 5 songs from SIT (and 5 songs from SJ, as we expect from new album tours) is totally possible.

But even if the songs are 4 (to make room for a deep cut), I'll still be happy. If it wasn't for the ''5+5'' hint, I would have said there would be 4 songs.

So, I've been pondering this for awhile now. Do I think they'll play Alexander the Great?

For: The band has hinted at it for years, specifically Bruce. They're aware of the desire in the fandom to hear it, as we've seen Steve respond to questions about it. There's always a flair for the dramatic with the band. The technical issues preventing it from being played in 1986 (too challenging to reproduce the studio with two guitars) have been resolved by the addition of a third.

Against: All of the above have existed for years, and existed in 2008 during the Somewhere Back in Time tour, which was the first hits tour to specifically reference Somewhere In Time. Iron Maiden is a very conservative band in many things they do, especially around live music. They never change the stage layout, they always play the same handful of hits, they've ended their set with the same, very bad, song, for 45 years+ now. Steve Harris is well known for being as stubborn as a fucking mule.

For: The band has made more aggressive deep cuts of late.

Against: Iron Maiden has never played a song that didn't debut in the album tour.

I lean towards: practiced but doesn't make the cut.
