Actually, on second thought, El Dorado has been my favorite from the album for so long, I think last night I was just not in a mood for it. Bumped up to 10/10.

For a grand total of 65/100... I don't know what that has to do with anything.

In a word - Booooooring.

That's really what drags the album down for me. The songs are actually very well written and probably the most progressive Maiden have ever been, it's just that no one sounds very "into it". Bruce is a particular offender. The production plays a part in this too, everything sounds so dry and lifeless. The worst of the reunion albums.

Just went through this in the individual song threads.

Weighted: 7.3/10

The album's anemic first half is a huge step down from A Matter Of Life And Death, with "Mother Of Mercy" being a particularly sour note. Thankfully the album recovers heavily in its second half with a string of great songs and a modern classic to cap it off.

This album has some issues with vocal production (why so dry?), and Bruce clearly struggles to hit notes in some places, but sounds great in others. Unfortunate.

I was surprised to see this edge out Dance Of Death in my overall album ratings, but I guess that strong second half pulled it out in the end...

Some ideas about other album title than The Final Frontier:

- Time Travel or Space Travel
- Alien Invasion
- The Unknown Universe
- Stars & Planets/ Cosmic Rocket
- Blue Moon/ The Dark Planet
..........

Not sure I would agree with your markings (I'd probably give some more marks to the lower ranked songs and the album overall), but your assessment is almost word for word how I feel about this album.

They sound like titles for children comics about space travelling.

I do not agree. I like the album title, but Starblind or The Talisman are also good choices. Like when Maiden wondering if The Pilgrim or The Legacy should be their album title for AMOLAD, but they checked that The Legacy was used before and I think it was also a good album title.
Which has nothing to do with 9 songs out of 10.

Like SIT album, but the general opinion is that the theme of this album is time and *space(*that's more likely for TFF).
