Eduroam is very useful, particularly if you're walking through Oxford or Cambridge where there's a university building on every street. I didn't know that it was a Europe-wide thing though.

I used to think it was the WiFi of my university until I found myself logged into it at Stockholm-Arlanda airport. -_-

I think most UK universities have their own wifi and eduroam, although my current university only has eduroam (which tends to be better anyway). I used to think it was called eurodam. ::)

Tonight I'm going to see Love Zombies and The Amorettes in a pub in north London and I just bought a ticket for Kreator and Sepultura in March.

The current gig schedule is:

Tonight: Love Zombies/Amorettes
4/11 Amon Amarth/Testament
13/11 Delain/Evergrey
6/12 Iced Earth
2/3 Kreator/Sepultura
6/5 Iron Maiden
16/5 Iron Maiden
21/5 Iron Maiden
27/5 Iron Maiden

Tasty list, Wiz.

I have Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals in London at the end of October. The missus got tickets and flights as a present. Fair play butI havent been interested in 'em in years. And I then found out that Goat are playin London the week before. I love Goat. Cant afford both. Gutted. Greatful (sort of), but also gutted.

Bad Company (support from Ritchie Sambora) and Saxon (with Fastway & Girlschool) are also in town in October. Busy/expensive month.

Might have something in May too....

I love Goat too (we're talking Swedish Goat here right?) :) I've got a poster from their show at the Electric Ballroom in London 2013 framed and hanging on my wall :)

Next show I plan to see is a group called Baby In Vain. An all female grungy-rock outfit from Denmark.

Firewind are touring in February, so I'll need to go to that as well.

@SixesAlltheway yeah the very same Goat. Got their first album not long after release, I was in a mucic shop and just liked the cover so I took a punt. Worked out well! We had tickets to see 'em in London a couple of years ago (maybe the gig your posters from) but forgot about flights (idiots). Tried to book flights a week or so before the gig and they were like £200 each. Couldn't justify it so posted the tickets to a mate in London who had never heard of them. He now love them too.

Some day I'll see them, some day...

I discovered them just when they had put out their first album too (this is still my favorite from them without a doubt..) but I'm looking forward to Requiem being released next week I believe?

They released a live album from that show, called Live Ballroom Ritual..

My poster looks like this:

I'm maybe going to buy some Tool Tickets tomorrow for the show in Utah in a couple weeks. My friend and I want to do a road trip. We were originally going to go see Temple of the Dog but after we saw $500 tickets for seats in the back we decided no.

Tool will be a better show anyway. I just need the approval from my boss..

Metal Church, Maiden, Dream Theater, Yes, ARW, Death Angel, and Epica are all bands who I either already or will travel out of town to see this year due to these bands not playing my hometown of Houston this year (that does not count the other bands I wanted to travel to see but couldn't due to money and time restraints or conflicts). Even though I count my blessings I am able to use hotel (& sometimes air) points I earn from my day job to travel to see shows (as well as cities I normally would not travel to for work), it still disturbs me that I live in the fourth most populous city in the US, but it no longer seems to be the draw for Metal and Hard Rock it used to be. Guess the promoters here would rather have Taylor Swift or Katy Perry for both financial as well as other reasons (property destruction and arrests that seems to follow some bands and festivals around are probably a consideration as well).

One secret of how I am able to afford to go to so many concerts is...I ALWAYS buy the cheap seats (nose bleeds)! But...if I am going to a long concert (four or more hours), I will pay a little more to not have GA and to have a seat (for in between bands). Sure, when I was younger and concert tickets were cheaper, I would buy floor seats in the first few rows, but that is no longer affordable.
