Well the link to the lyrics were removed like immediately by Brigs. The stuff in spoiler tags discusses the lyrics without mentioning them directly...except for one slip up by Prometheus :nonono:

Gomenasai...

Aside from the comparisons we've been getting to SiT's guitar sound, I'm also eager to hear how Bruce sounds on the album. Every comment on the album itself brings up his apparently phenomenal performance and one compared it to his performance on SiT (which is great, even if he didn't write any of that material). I figured that if Bruce gave a strong performance on this album, he probably would have opted to sing in a lower, more comfortable register. However, if they're comparing it to SiT, then did Bruce go for more high notes?

It only takes some reasonably high but not strained vocals for Bruce to shine. I trust that - at least - in the songs he co-wrote, this is what we are getting.

Bruce is using his voice perfectly on his last solo album. I know that the tuning used is lower than Maiden. However the Tyranny of Souls vocal tone is among the best I ever heard of him.

Thanks everybody! Not easy to realize what it means until it happens, apart from all the logistics (and dropping saldo on my bank account. o_O). ;)
Night Prowler has put it right by saying this is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

The 26th!

Very cool ... congrats. Very happy for you .. and wish it was me :)

I think Bruce's vocals on all 4 of Maiden's last albums as well as his 4 last solo albums are right up there with how he sounded in the 80's. They just have a bit of a more mature sound to them on the last 4 Maiden/solo. And I'm sure we'll get more of the same this time around.

There is just some "whining" flavor on it, like on Mother of Mercy for example. I don't know, maybe it's the age thing?

Yeah, while Bruce has held up very well vocally over the years, his performance on TFF wasn't always the best. It certainly wasn't as impressive as it was on AMOLAD or BNW. It could be the age factor, but I'd expect that to carry over into this album too, but it sounds like that didn't really happen this time around.

I honestly don't understand Bruce and his voice. Some songs on the album seem so strained, while other songs that are higher sound fine.
Than songs that sound strained on the album, sound great live. It changes song to song. Talisman sounds great, Starblind sounds forced and rough, and Talisman seems like the harder song.. I don't know.

I honestly think it has to do with the recording process itself. Since the band's out for a live sound, they apparently record most of the songs together and do several takes for the majority of the song and then do stuff like guitar solos and other additional things later. With that, I think Bruce has fewer opportunities than normal to get every song right in the studio.

I could very well be wrong on that though.

I don't hear any strain at all on TFF. Can someone give some specific examples? I do know Bruce had a bit of a difficult time singing the title track and The Talisman live though. He sure does like to challenge himself.

There's vocal strain all over the place on Mother of Mercy (chorus), El Dorado (chorus), Isle of Avalon, etc. I don't think it has much to do with Bruce not being on top of his game but rather falling victim to a production that does him no favors at all (a little reverb goes a long way) and a recording mentality of getting things done quickly.

I really hope that with the time that has passed between the recording and release of this album that we'll get some of those studio flourishes on the vocals that were sorely lacking on The Final Frontier.
