TBOS Tour Predictions

It was quite possibly the ballsiest thing the band's ever done live and I missed it by two years! Would've been great to see in person.

Sure was, and I had seen it twice in Milan on two consecutive nights, but I think it was the wrong album to do in its entirety. Too many slow and dragging intros, too many dark and brooding songs for the casual Maiden fan, I'd say. TFF was a much better candidate to to back-to-back IMO.

And talking about NOTB's 35th anniversary reminded me of its 25th anniversary in 2007 when they advertised the A Matter of the Beast tour and ended up playing only four songs from it - the standard three (NOTB, RTTH, HBTN) and Children of the Damned which wasn't too big of a deal as they'd played it on the first history tour a few years before.

So, to summarize, don't hope for rare gems, especially not on an album tour.

I'm inclined to disagree; AMOLAD is probably the album that the band best nailed their quest for a "live" sound, even if it's not exactly the production I'd have gone for. Pretty much every song translated very well live. Thinking about songs like Starblind though, I couldn't see them playing TFF in its entirety. TFF is a more eclectic album though, so I see where you're coming from.

I had a thought recently. Somewhere in Times 30th anniversary will be next year. Maybe there's a chance they play a song from it. While Deja Vu and Alexander and Loneliness are definitely not a possibility, could we maybe get something such as Stranger in a Strange Land, or Caught Somewhere in Time? Just a thought.

I don't think they would be dusting off any unplayed songs. Meaning that whatever material was played in the last tour is more or less it. I mean the songs from SIT. They cleaverly played most of the Maiden England songs and took no risks (apart from SSOASS). Since this was a history tour of the SIT and SSOASS.....that was about what they aimed to play. I don't see any other songs coming back. I mean they even played ATSS, this was completely out of scope wasn't it?

To be honest, I can see the setlist being very post reunion heavy. With the Maiden England tour covering primarily 80's classics over a period of three years, I can see the band wanting to focus on their new material after playing their older stuff to death since 2012.

But that's just my opinion, something completely different could happen.

I think we need to also consider that they normally play 5-6 new songs. If they decide to play Empire of the Clouds then either 3 short or 2 long songs need to be kicked out from the set. So we might end up with a smaller number of songs. There are quite a lot of things they can do but they never seem to take any risks....regarding old material, outside from a "best of tour."

I am really interested to see what would happen to song like:

2 minutes to midnight

wrathchild

fear of the dark

Hallowed be thy name

I'd be very surprised if the live staples don't remain, like FOTD and Trooper. I'd welcome Hallowed because I've yet to hear it! The first couple of songs are likely to be from the new album, IMO, and my guess is any epics/longer songs will be from Book of Souls as well, rather than being from other reunion albums.

The post reunion songs surviving to the recent playlists:

BNW : The Wickerman, Blood brothers.

DOD : Dance of Death

AMOLAD : none?? Am I missing something?

I'm going to wager we'll see at least these songs (not necessarily in this order):

1. If Eternity Should Fail
2. Speed of Light
3. 2 Minutes to Midnight or Flight of Icarus
4. The Book of Souls
5. The Trooper
6. The Wicker Man
7. Coming Home or Blood Brothers
8. Rainmaker (instead of DoD)
9. The Red and the Black
10. Empire of the Clouds
11. Number of the Beast
12. Run to the Hills
13. Iron Maiden
14. Hallowed Be Thy Name

Fear of the Dark is an obvious shoe-in, but I'm thinking/hoping that they might drop it (along with the usual SiT/SSoaSS rocker) for once to make more room for Empire this tour. After all, they ditched Hallowed on the last tour.

The new stage design has been revealed!

I can't see them playing any songs that haven't been played by the current lineup, excluding new album songs of course.

How long is this playlist? The won't go for more than 1:45 minutes top. Hoping Bruce regains his full potential. If something goes wrong with his voice then who knows?!

Coming Home isn't a bad guess, I think. I could see that slotting in neatly. Why is everyone putting If Eternity Should Fail first? Since I heard Speed of Light was going to be the single I assumed that would go first, not least because it's going to get the most exposure, and from that perspective is a good opener.

Very real possibility of that. But Icarus? No.

If Eternity Shall Fail
Speed of light
Children of the Damned
Be Quick or be Dead
The Great Unknown
Infinite Dreams
New Frontier
Book of Souls
Death or Glory
Man on the Edge
Tailgunner
El Dorado
Empire of the Clouds

Transylvania
Where Eagles Dare
Run to the Hills

i would be thrilled if it looks more like this rather than 2 minutes, trooper, wicker man,
Give me some other Classics

Without going into intense setlist speculation (I'll get to that once I hear the album), here are my predictions in 3 points:

1. We will get 3-4 songs from the new album.
2. We will get all of the standard classics, and very little from the reunion albums (maybe one song per album).
3. We will only get 1 (maybe 2) "hidden gems" from older albums, but nothing they haven't played before.

My thoughts exactly.

I'm guessing IESF first due to Maiden's habit of opening up album tours with the new opening song. After all, just because El Dorado was the first single off of TFF, that didn't stop them from opening with the title track in 2011. I'm also thinking back to the Somewhere on Tour with them opening with Caught Somewhere in Time, rather than Wasted Years or Sea of Madness.
