Steve 'Loopy' Newhouse's blog

Everyone seems to think there's a second guitar player on that recording, and no one is making any argument of it being anyone other than Paul Cairns that I can see.

Who could be the other guitarist in your opinion?

May I ask some questions about:
http://maidenrelations.webs.com/timeline.htm

Are you planning to go pre-1978 as well?

Would you give sources for the events that happened on this timeline? At least for the events which deviate from official channels. I think that would enrich the site a lot.

Anyhow, I find this a very interesting project.

I put the time line on that site as a bit of a test but that webpage wasn't really suitable for it so I never really continued it. I also haven't had a lot of spare time recently so haven't looked into doing a fuller time line. My time line goes back to Gypsy's Kiss and but I need to go through everything again and double check my notes, so I tend to put info up on forums in relation to questions.

For what it's worth, Paul Di'anno confirms that Paul Cairns played on the Soundhouse Tapes:

Some of his statements in the past have had to be taken with a grain of salt, and maybe not too much weight should be put on this. I would have liked to see a follow-up question by the interviewer about why Cairns would not have been credited, but whatever.

Probably because by the time the band released the 7" he was history and they (Rod and Steve) felt it made more sense only to include the band members at the time of the release.

That makes a lot of sense, but it's still odd that the guy didn't even think of asking him.

"Steve threw him out of the band. Then Cairns shagged his girlfriend. Then Steve left off his name in retaliation."
Probably wouldn't have been true, but at least it would have been fun to read.

That's Rod! I knew it! No one else in Maiden by that time was interested in Rugby. It's always Rod!!! I'll go to the King of Sweden thread now to tell the world it's Rod! Behind! Everything!
