Well guys, a few days back I was ranking all the 17 Maiden albums, which is definitely a tough job.

1. Somewhere In Time
2. Powerslave
3. The Number Of The Beast
4. Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
5. A Matter Of Life And Death

6. Brave New World
7. Piece Of Mind
8. Dance Of Death
9. Iron Maiden
10. Killers
11. Fear Of The Dark
12. The Book Of Souls
13. The X Factor
14. Senjutsu
15. Virtual XI
16. No Prayer For The Dying
17. The Final Frontier

But somehow even after doing it, I felt a sense of dilemma between some couple of albums here and there. So, give me your best shot and this is your time to defend your favourite album right here! And I may consider a change in my list.

(Basically a thread for albums comparison)

SSoaSS has The Prophecy, which ruins an otherwise perfect track streak. AMOLAD wins.
Similar reasoning, but my issue is with OTGDY instead.

Great track, but slightly weaker than the rest of the album, possibly due to the (imo) weak chorus.

AMOLAD is consistently great throughout. AMOLAD wins.

I'd give it to SSOASS, though AMOLAD is a big highlight of the reunion era. SSOASS has a clearer, more vibrant production sound to my ears, and has more standout tracks. Meanwhile, AMOLAD is remarkable for its consistently good-to-great songs...but none that I'm really aching to hear come back in a live set, oddly enough.

Back to SS, I tend to consider Can I Play with Madness the weakest track, and the two songs the band ignored live are hidden gems. I've always LOOOOOOVED The Prophecy's alternating vocal style verses, huge chorus, and the gentle acoustic cool down that leads into The Clairvoyant. And the RFYL Tour's missed opportunity to play OTGDY finally was the biggest bummer for me when it came to the setlist. While I agree lyrically, the chorus is a bit ho-hum, that simplicity could've played great with some live back-and-forth between the audience, and the driving rhythm of the song is tough to beat.

Now this is a really tough choice. Both are masterpieces/like perfect albums with no weak songs! A small detail should make the difference - and that is The Prophecy (I appreciate its uniqueness). Come to think of it, both albums are like a perfect and classic representations of their style and eras. The thing is, AMOLAD is a really impactful album. SSOASS is untouchable Maiden and at one of theirs creative bests, just like Matter.

Wouldn't you call Greater Good, Suns, Different World, Longest Day and even Colours and Shadows such? I will.
AMOLAD is one of my two favorite Maiden records, and I would agree that there aren't any obvious anthems. Still a collection of some of the best songs Maiden have made though.

AMOLAD is all killer no filler (ok, mostly killer, but definitely no filler). SSOASS is great, but Prophecy is weak and I’ve always thought CIPWM is too happy.

They’re both among Maiden’s best, though. Obviously.

No, I don't think there is a single filler song on AMOLAD. I don't like Prophecy, because the vocals don't gel with the music. I like Madness quite a bit, but even as a new Maiden fan, I certainly wasn't going "wow what a great song". AMOLAD is more even, though I will say that SSOASS peaks higher.

Amolad is a great album. No doubt. Again what if this record had been recorded in the 80s
