Senjutsu - 3rd September 2021

I have explained in previous post the reasons I believe Maiden's albums are inferior to those of the golden era (mind you up to FOTD).
That being said, I am still a fan and I will always like many songs from the reunion era, despite these "unfortunate" things.
Fair enough, I don't mind someone having that opinion. It was just the way you worded it that I reacted to.

Instead of moving in circles, can we just all agree that the albums they produce are just for their loyal followers? Then maybe we can just try and put our heads around how we could get an album leak.
Really? I'm a sheep Maiden fan then, lol? You know they always do what they want to do. For the past 3 albums now they stated something to the effect of "we've done a couple things different or new this go around, hope the fans like it".

No,no,no, I did not mean anything bad against anyone let alone you. It is a free world! I did not even follow your conversation. I just want to listen to the album and I am obsessed with searching for any leaks

Anyway... I can't be the only one to believe that the reunion albums suffer for a number of reasons. But I always have hope for a very good album, so we have a few weeks ahead to find out.
I hope for for a very good album, too. And in the reunion era I think they've delivered pretty darn well. Yes, indeed there's a number of folks who think like you do. Again I will say, if I feel a band I like hasn't produced anything really good since 88 (and in your case 92) then I would have moved on years ago. You said they're still your favorite band so I have to give you props for your loyalty. :ok:

Not exactly. I liked BNW as a whole and AMOLAD most of it. And of course I liked many songs that most people don't care for ( When two worlds collide, the unbeliever, gates of tomorrow, just to mention a few). But as an old fan I found let's call them distractions

It is my very correct opinion that Maiden’s post-2000 work is the best music they’ve ever produced. Between the short rocking songs, the longer epics, the sort of in-between progressive stuff, Maiden post-2000 is the creative fulfillment of where they were always heading. And it’s beautiful to witness.

Reading reviews (knowing stuff) before hearing the album spoils the discovery aspect of a first listening session. For a Maiden album, the first in 6 years, this is not a good idea.

A few more weeks, a few more weeks ...
Words and text still don't let us know what the actual music is going to sound like so I don't think it spoils too much.
How many reviews do we have so far? I know two.
Plus, we still have at least 2 more. Blabbermouth and Kerrang.
All the reunion albums sold quite well so the band themselves don't really care to change the music direction and other stuff like production etc...
The enthusiasm has long gone, so we (the 40+ fans) all know that we cannot get a masterpiece of an album. We just compromise.

And the same goes for bands like Metallica, Slayer, Judas Priest etc... They all peaked at the dawn of the 80s/begining of the 90s.

We just love the anticipation of a new album from our favourite band!
I'm a 40+ fan and I like the last 5 albums a bit better than 1982-1988 and I think Book Of Souls is a masterpiece.

The only way we'll know of a leak is if it's mentioned on the site hasitleaked. I don't believe there's any way that we ourselves could obtain some advanced copy.

My 5 cents. I repeat that we are all fans, right? Everyone is entitled to their opinion and so on.

Let's say that as a guitarist I find even NPFTD more technical and interesting than the material they have produced post reunion. There are some exceptions of course. However the density of their older riffs and the urgency is not there. So I find it only natural that some people might not like the new material. They compose differently nowadays, which is also ok and fun. But they really stretch the material.

So I think there are two kind of fans

1) Those who like the NEW material

2) Those who -although- think the ideas are good, they see the songs as too long for no good reason.

So all in all I believe that we all like the material in a way but get frustrated a it could have been much more dense after removing some parts.

I mean, come on, most bands do not have a good idea after a few albums. and Maiden thrive on new song ideas.

I remember that TBOS leaked a week before release. It might have been 6 days or 8 days. In the 6 years since, with rare exception, albums aren't leaked more than 24 hours prior. It's quite likely that the new album won't leak until Thursday September 2nd.

I don't remember the TBOS leak. I do remember the TFF leak and listened to it and immediately regretted it. Not because I didn't like it, but because I knew it would spoil my release day experience.

I think the albums they make are for themselves. They make the music they want to make....it has nothing to do with us megafans, PT fans, or non fans. It's one of the many reasons I'm still a fan after so many years, they don't compromise on what they want to make...they don't listen to outside opinions, fashions, advice...anything. They are quite pure that way. We might like it, or we may have issues with it....either way Maiden makes what Maiden makes. End of. And I love that

Yes, that's true to some degree, but they also make sure to make music that they know a good number of their fans will like or they wouldn't sell any albums so they do have to keep the fans in mind somewhat.

Oh, believe it or not, I've never done an album pre-order before. For those who did pre-order physical copies with Maiden's last couple of albums, when did you receive your copy? Did it arrive to you on the actual release date or were you lucky and got it before that?
