Satellite 15 . . . The Final Frontier: Video Impressions Here

So, the general consensus is that after listening to a huge 10 minutes out of 76 minutes of Maiden's new album, Maiden have lost it.

Ok....

Remember Ben Breeg? It worked a lot better on the album than off of it. If you play TFF and El Dorado then El Dorade sounds better (at least the intro does) so surely adding Satellite 15 to TFF (And they're designed as 1 song) it'll help make it sound better? Never underestimate the importance of an album.

I think daves solos are getting slower and adrins are getting faster. In the eary days it was the other way around.

I like the song. The lyrics are decent and the video is cool. Riff is catchy and adrians solo is incredible.

It's definately a "typical Maiden opener" and perhaps I was expecting too much with the long track name and track length.  But expectations aside, it's a damn good rocking tune, and I can't wait to hear the full album even more now.  Bruce sounds great to me!

I listened until I got to the chorus which was "THE FINAL FRONTIER" repeated over and over.  Then I laughed and shut it off.  Maybe it got better after that.

WTF?!

You = epic fail

That "repetitive" chorus lasts less than a minute...

I REALLY like this song, definitely not the best, but it's still damn good.

If I have ONE problem with the song it's probably the line;

For I have lived my life to the full
I have no regrets
But I wish I could talk to my family
To tell them one last goodbye

Just doesn't to it for me... it sounds VERY weird, especially in a Maiden song.

Anyways, this space-theme has really inspired Maiden to get some damn good riffs in, they're f*cking incredible.  :blush:

Hmm.
I can play the entire thing from my second listen. Maybe it's the fact that there's more or less one riff in the entire thing.

EDIT: Well, it's pretty fucking catchy. I'm already singing it nonstop from the second listen.
I'm not saying it's bad, I just hope that only the 2 first song are in this vein.

Even the solo's ? surely not

I absolutely love this song. Feels like a song off dance of death.

What a rubbish music video  :lol:. Almost no synchronicity at all, effectively like 90% of the youtube videos out there then.

As for the song, seems ok on first impressions. Its difficult to get a real feel for the song with all the video effects over it, but yeah, sounds nice.

Has any one else noticed the similarity between the opening riff and U2's "Vertigo"?

Well maybe. Vertigo is a lot faster.

Same here, but at least we have a new song! :yey: So far, I'm not that impressed though. :ninja:

Well compared to other album openers like Aces High, Moonchild, Wickerman, its not that special, but I like it better then Different World.
Its also possible that its a grower.

Yeah... it doesn't necessarily sound like it, it's just a similar chord progression, especially at the end of the riff.

I think both songs are also in the same key of E.
Its a lot of fun to play on the guitar.

I listened to the song twice and that's what I think: the sound effects of the movie kills the enjoyment of the song, which on the album will sounnd a lot more full and dense. It seems the band's (Adrian, at least) been listening to the stuff they used to when they were kids. I feel on El Dorado a lot of Lizzy style, the same edge, but Maiden managed to retain their unique vibe and created a new style.

The Final Frontier is an incredible groover with a simple but catchy riff; the main riff is totally inspired (maybe unconsciously) by Fleetwood Mac's classic cover by Judas Priest, The Green Manalishi (With The Two-Pronged Crown). Solos are Adrian, then Dave and Adrian does all the fills around the vocals (but that's something I'll notice after mutiple listenings on the headphone). The song is a great opener and the band indeed sounds fresh, with their unique vibe but with a tinge of old days (and it's not by paroding themselves), the solos sound like coming from the 80's 'cos the band managed to capture some of that era in this new album. There's 66 minutes of music to enjoy yet. I feel the album starts with the gears relaxed and then the machine gors getting to its peak, at full force 'cos El Dorado is a lot more fast and vibrant than The Final Frontier.
