I highly doubt a full arena tour can justify the costs of going down there. If you take in account that they just visited it (more or less) and that Foo Fighters will rob them of several thousands tickets, then it's not that impossible that they scrapped the idea.
I think FF audience and Maiden's are different ones. FF attracts mostly the casuals who aren't into metal and Maiden at all. If they don't book Oceania at all and skip that to play just Japan, it would not be the best idea from an economic point of view. However, they will play different territories in Asia, including India, instead of Oceania. Eventually, the whole tour might end in Santiago - I wouldn't be surprised if so.
I remember 2017 when Maiden toured North America, the same period when Metallica did Worldwired Tour in NA. Both tours were successful.
But not a big market.
Why is this an issue at all? There are always big bands like Maiden out touring, this goes to all continents. It does not affect sales for each other, just a little fraction
Not for Oceania. Less people, less international acts.
And there's another option. Maybe they will start in Asia/India and finish the tour in December as the headliner of Good Things Festivals in Australia. With an optional schedule, the leg could include some 10-12 shows, including the Australian fest.

Just my guessing, nothing assured. As I thought over our (mostly your) predictions about ticket sales. Eventually, all 81 dates revealed so far should sell well over 2 million tix, including festivals, of course. If so (rather for sure), it would be a very good result without scheduling dates in other countries/territories.
It wouldn't be the first time Australia had 2 major bands in the same month Metallica and Oasis were very close to each other last year then they had Tool and ACDC
Both had sold out shows for months and a demand which Maiden surely don't have now
How many Maiden fans are big Foos fans and vice versa? The fanbase is pretty different, I think it will be fine especially if Megadeth are also on the bill.
Good Things festival has been mentioned before, it could be the reason for the delayed announcement as festival organizers do wait until later in the year, but traditionally it's in December so it might not work, what will fill the gap between SA and Good Things?
Maybe even more Asian countries will be added to the schedule. Maybe shows in India too.
I still have a feeling the last show of this tour will be the 2nd night in Santiago. Against the rumours and the band's promise from 12 Dec.
I would understand if they end their tour in Chile looking at their age and travelling distance etc. But this 50th anniversary tour would be incomplete if they dont visit Japan at least in view that they had a strong history with them since the beginning.
Nah, there has been no official announcement that "no further shows will be added" They wouldn't have clearly stated ROW dates to be announced in the new year and then change their minds lol.
