why Aces, Moonchild???? no chances, but number has solid chance to open it :)
Why not? They're great songs! And why no chance?

I'd say Aces is a low chance perhaps as we saw it during LotB as opener (and closer). But it's arguably their most popular opening song.

As for Moonchild I'd say there's a fair chance. Looking at all the opening songs Maiden's done over the years I think this one is pretty much well received by fans. Either they're going to pick a song as opener they've never done before (such as Phantom which many people suggest) or go the familiar route and pick an opener they haven't played for a while. Aka, Moonchild (or something like Rue Morgue or BQoBD). I'd personally think the latter.

My opinion - Moonchild is the best opener song - the way the track builds up to an explosive intro for the band. Not many other Maiden tracks have that. Aces High a close second, and I'd be happy to hear it again provided Bruce's vocals are in good shape (possible but maybe not).
There are a lot of 'good' openers, but personally I think the best opening tracks are ones with a musical intro that allows the band to run out on stage for instant wow factor.. Pet peeves for me are when bands walk out on stage and it takes a minute to actually get into the song!

I'm beginning to think that we're all being taken for a bit of a ride here, myself included. Hear me out.

The reason why we're having such a difficult time predicting what makes sense as a "setlist for the ages" and delving into unverified "Trust me bro" speculation is because we've already experienced the Greatest Setlist Maiden ever performed. THAT was the Legacy Of The Beast tour.

Covid and illness f...ed up the economic stream for corporations worldwide, Iron Maiden being one of them. They are a global entity doing massive business around the world (I'm in the US). This isn't any criticism of the band but I'm beginning to think this tour is a way for the band to recoup lost revenues AND sign off from the kind of world tours we're all accustomed to them doing.

Hence Simon Dawson being announced for 2025, not as the permanent touring drummer. There may not be any touring beyond 2026-27.

The band traditionally works in 3-5 year cycles, so if anything else was scheduled beyond RFYL it would already be in the pre-production phase. And after TFP & RFYL, unless there is a part ll for RFYL what else could that be but an album tour..? Which yes, could theoretically be in the can. But now we're talking '28/'29..?

Bruce is moving forward with TMP 2. Adrian is two albums in with Ritchie Kotzen. Dave has wanted to retire for awhile now. Steve is going to be onstage or playing a pub somewhere at 80, still machinegunning the front rows.

This is all my observation but the planets may indeed be lined up this time. Hence, this tour. Go out with all of the biggest songs in one big boom. As for Bruce's cagey "setlist" comments, what else is he going to say..? "If you're a real OG, you'll be disappointed"..? When WE hear "setlist for the ages," we think something very different than the fans who, for example, booed during the "AMOLAD" show I attended. I thought performing the album was BRILLIANT and I loved every moment. The rest of the amphitheater...not so much. Screaming "Play Trooper!!!" during "FTGGOG" was ugly.

Anywhoo...we'll all know in just a few more hours. I'm just thinking aloud as I'm trying to rationalize why "BQOBD" should open instead of "Murders..." but preparing myself to be disappointed. I'm still going to see the tour, though.

there is definitely a chance they open with Moonchild or Aces. I think both of them are more

My opinion - Moonchild is the best opener song - the way the track builds up to an explosive intro for the band. Not many other Maiden tracks have that. Aces High a close second, and I'd be happy to hear it again provided Bruce's vocals are in good shape (possible but maybe not).

Moonchild is "too 7th son vibe" song and really don't fit for this tour
