RUN FOR YOUR LIVES WORLD TOUR (2025/2026)

There was no solo there in the original recording, it was a live-only addition and Dave played the solo because he was (so to say) the soloist at the time. Also he usually played it under the last verse while in 2005 they put it after, leading to the jam and into Sanctuary.

Neither Janick nor Adrian ever took a solo Dave recorded.
Except for Adrian doing Dave’s Flight of Icarus outro solo in 1997. Not a Maiden performance but close.

I was listening to the FOTD album this morning on my commute. I was thinking about the prospect of Wasting Love being played. I can see the three amigos onstage with their acoustic guitars all in unison… and then I thought about the amount of acoustic guitar strings they would go through on the tour just to play that song. What a waste of perfectly good guitar strings.

...yes, and Roy Z did Dave's solos on Powerslave and 2MTM in the '90s. But that was an entirely other band.

Nita Strauss too played Dave's solos for years.
Thanks for clarifying that it was another band. I didn’t notice…

I just thought I would throw in a little fact that some people might not be aware of. Adrian did take a Dave solo, but as I stated in the initial post it was not a Maiden performance.

No need to be snarky.

Wouldn't be the first time, looking at Journeyman during the Dance Of Death tour.

Wasting Love is pretty fucking crap in my opinion, but luckily I don't think there's any chance of it getting played. Even if it was under some theoretical consideration, well, Remember Tomorrow just took its spot as a slower, mellow song with notable clean guitar parts. Journeyman's alright though, a bit long for what it is arrangement wise.

I’ll be curious about Remember Tomorrow. It kinda seems like a given at this point that they will play Phantom and Running Free, a fourth song from the debut would be a bit of a surprise. Also doesn’t bode well for the 90s deep cuts that people are clamoring for.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if the onstage tributes to Paul are limited to what we saw on stage in MN.
