RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

I'm sure Bruce wanted Aces High in that position. Nobody persuaded him or even forced him.
I don't know what's going on in his head of course, but maybe something like he felt very fit and wanted to prove he could do it?

I think it begins with the letter D.

Deafness? Denial?

The pitches are the same obviously, but he has evolved quite a bit as a singer since the 80s. The 2025 features more vibrato and other stylistic choices, missing in the 80s version. That's what I meant.
I dunno about that. It sounds pretty much like Adrian does when he sings Wasted Years for example, I don't think there's that big of a gap really. Pleasant on the ears at least, especially compared to Bruce's croaking. Hard to really compare to LAD anyway since the backing vocals were redone in the studio for the most part.

We are pretty much saying the exact same thing, main point being: He has developed quite a bit over the years and sounds much better and more confident than he did in the 80s. As can be heard on his backing vocals on Wicker Man in 2018 vs RIR, Wasted Years as you mentioned or now with Aces High 2025 vs 1984.

Despite only having phone audio vs studio overdubs, he sounds much better today than he did back then, imo.

Honestly just ONE deep cut for ONE of the classics and keep all the other boring classics (it's fine I know people love them) and there probably wouldn't be any nerds like me complaining.

Literally keep the set the same but swap out 2 minutes for Infinite Dreams and we would all have fan boy boners.

The last tour only had like two songs that I was particularly psyched to see, CSIT and of course Alexander so I didn't care if the rest of the set was Fear of the Bore, Number of the Dull and Tedious to the Hills
Fear of the bore....number of the dull....ahhmm... then excactly what are you doing here ???? I think ( although less and less every day) that this is an Iron Maiden FANS forum ...

How did the boys end up choosing Aces High as an encore song? Picture this: they’re all gathered at Maiden HQ, discussing production and tossing around ideas for the setlist. Then someone just goes, “Oh, you all remember how good Aces was on the Legacy of the Beast tour?”

Chorus: “Yeah, man, that one was great!”

Somebody: “Especially when we played Aces as part of the encore.”

Chorus: “Yeah! We nailed it!”

Somebody: “Then let’s do it again. And again! And again!”

Chorus: “Sure! Why not?”

If that “someone” was Bruce… well, history remains silent.
This just shows how different our perception as fans can be compared to the band’s own feelings and point of view.

Edit: To tell the truth, there maybe was one voice of reason.

Adrian: “Hmm, I’m not so sure that’s a great idea…”
Somebody (mishearing Adrian): “Great idea, you say? So it’s decided then—let’s do it!”

Looking at the setlist this has to be the Harris-heaviest in a long while, right? Only 5 of the songs don't have a sole Harris credit (though RTTH is officially only credited to him, due to contractual reasons). Another couple of those 5 were co-written by him, leaving Powerslave and Wasted Years as the only tracks in the setlist without Steve's involvement.

I'd have to check with some of the other tours to see if other setlists were skewed this heavily as well.

Steve did not write 2 Minutes to Midnight. :)

The Early Days tour setlist comes to mind when thinking of Harris-heavy setlists.

I think if the next tour is a new album tour then the LED screen for a backdrop will remain (but not as wide as it currently is), but the staging for the risers will go back to one specific theme rather than LEDs.

The full on embrace of LEDs for both this tour I feel has to do with the "many worlds of Maiden" but from the various press releases.

I just noticed this myself, but has there been any discussion about Adrian singing background vocals during Aces High?

I don’t think that’s happened since World Slavery tour, am I right?
Ok, I wasn't gonna say anything at first but this has to stop. Before I switch forums or throw the computer out of the window, for the love of all that is holy please change the goddamn year!

Was anyone else expecting the screens to part and a mechanical Eddie to pop up during the middle of Iron Maiden a la AC/DC?

No, because this is Iron Maiden we're talking about. The screen probably already cost so much management was considering if they could just make taller drapes instead and blow some air with a fan on them to make them look animated.

Also for whoever said a big stage needs a big kit, take a good look at this photo. It's all about the framing. If Maiden had downsized the enormous drum cavern that still barely fits Nicko's kit to match Simon's setup, it would've been fine. The fact they didn't is a bit baffling honestly. Maybe they weren't entirely sure what Simon was going to play on the tour, or maybe it would've cost too much to alter the stage structure...
