RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

This comparison relates to the stage production only, even if you detest their music.
I couldn't care less for Ghost, they're relatively inoffensive pop rock and my only real complaint these days is how much they get overplayed on the radio. However, stage show wise they're in another universe compared to Maiden and I think it's funny how some have convinced themselves that Maiden having a bunch of massive screens with random footage and not much else is a revolutionary show.

LOTB was an example of a truly mindboggling stage show since they did so much with traditional effects. My expectations were that they'd combine that with screens to take it to the next level, but instead they relegated nearly everything physical to the screens which is still lame if you ask me.

Ι personally don't shit on Maiden. I shit on their tour production and the screens that are not that impressive in 2025. I wish they kept it original with physical props and backdrops. Now, with screens, comparisons are inevitable. We have to acknowledge that Maiden production in a bit lacklustre.
They should just keep the screens and then bring back physical props. They've done the Legacy tour. I'm sure, they know how to make it even better.

Can confirm. I saw Ghost recently and was absolutely blown away. Everything - the stage set, the lighting rig, the backdrops, and yes - the SCREENS, was all so engaging and perfectly utilized. The stage set even had semi-distinct "realms" a la LOTB, complete with an epic stained glass reveal!

It's just like, my opinion, man... but I really don't know how anyone who saw TBOS or the LOTB 2018-2019 shows can claim that the RFYL production is anything but a huge step backwards.

Now I think Ghost is an excellent example of the spectacle being bigger than the band itself. That's the exact opposite of what Maiden want. I love a Ghost show, it's great, but the trimmings and costumes are what Ghost is all about. With Maiden it's band first, and swamping them with stuff on stage probably wouldn't give them a boost, quite the opposite.

Complaining about the genre of Ghost's music and making it the centre of the discussion is funny. Because at its core, it's still a rock show. For Skeletour they hired people whose job was to recreate late 70s rock shows, visually speaking. I may post the relevant interview here, if I find it. No one is obligated to like the music performed by Ghost, but honestly, they guarantee a hell of a show. It's spectacular, it's carefully planned (the big cross does a great job, being an important part of the whole event), and - what's the most important thing - it works well. I don't remember how much I paid for my ticket to their show, but it was definitely comparable to what I would have paid for a Maiden gig, if I had seen them on the current tour. Honestly, I prefer the early days of Ghost, the Opus Eponymous-Infestissumam era, but what they're doing now deserves appreciation. It's not far from what KISS used to do. I mean, Papa "levitating" during Majesty/Call Me Little Sunshine can be considered a homage to Gene Simmons playing God of Thunder. I don't think that rock music needs all these fancy things to work live, but if it's done correctly, what's wrong with that? Pink Floyd certainly didn't need to use lasers and build a huge wall on the stage, but that's what they were doing.

The Aces High animation, Hallowed, IM Eddie, Powerslave and Seventh Son backgrounds all look pretty damn good to me for someone who hasn't seen it live yet. This is their first time using screens on a big scale (FPT was very much just dipping the toe in). If they so chose they can do a lot better and more with it. I didn't get to see Ghost this time around but from what I seen the stage/show looks not all that different from last tour, perhaps just "more" of it.
