I believe that if people managed to "mental-block" the cover of Dance of Death, this album would rank much higher on average. ;)
For me its all. After bnw the energy and magic wasnt there and i remember my first listen song after song and the 3 or 4 last songs were really bad. I give the album 3/10

Dance of Death is fine, it has some top tier songs, like Paschendale, Rainmaker, the title track, Montsegur, but it's inbetween their 2 best albums in the reunion era, 2 albums with 0 filler tracks. DoD has some fillers, for sure.

  1. Somewhere In Time
  2. Powerslave
  3. Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
  4. Piece Of Mind

The Number of the Beast (Godlike)

Piece of Mind (Outstanding)
Powerslave (Outstanding)

Brave New World (Most Excellent)
Seventh Son (Most Excellent)
A Matter of Life and Death (Most Excellent)

Senjutsu (Quite Likeable)

No Prayer recently went up, after I listened to it again & again, after they ignored this album in the setlist. It's a god damn good album. Martin Birch era is the best, only the debut and X Factor can get there between with its bold character.

Somewhere in Time sometimes gets my #1.

Worst fillers than the fear of the dark album Gates of tomorrow, new frontier, face in the sand, and also for me journeyman and montsegur(that second medieval chorus ruins the song) and then we have paschendale, dance of death the epics not the best ones but good and no more lies wildest dreams and rainmaker for me very weak.
But its just each ones tastes. For me X factor have amazing passages ,dark and depresive atmospheras but beautyfull parts, and blaze voice fits so well on them. Without him they couldnt do that.
