I want to book a flight on the website of a certain Irish airline. I book the flight and want to pay with a certain American online payment service provider. Just as I try to finish the transaction, the airline website returns me to the start page, with no confirmation of anything ever having been booked, no transaction logged, nothing.
24 hours later, I try again. Same thing.
Customer service, live chat. "Please wait 30 minutes". I wait for 45 minutes. "Hi, I will review your details." 10 minutes pass. "It could be a browser issue. Try with another browser." I try with the recommended browser only to have the same thing happen again, and upon my return see that I've been kicked out of the live chat. I open a new ticket. "Please wait 20 minutes". I wait for 30 minutes. "Hi, I will review your details". 10 minutes pass. "May I please have the booking details?" I provide booking details. CS: "Unfortunately with this details you have provided i can't see this booking" Me: "My point exactly. But how come?" CS: "You can wait 24 hours to see if the booking is being processed." Me: "I already did that. Is there any possible reason for why a booking wouldn't be processed?" CS: "I can't see any booking" Me: "I know, and I'm trying to find out why." CS: "Okay but with this details you have provided i can't see any booking" Me: "Right, maybe it's a software issue. Thanks." I quit because I couldn't find any crayons to draw my problem with. There will be other ways to book a flight, and there will be other airlines to fly with.
