EDIT: My original post here was wrong and the Duke corrected me in the next post. So just read that one. Move along now. [!--emo&:D--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/biggrin.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'biggrin.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

The Munro Doctrine essentially said this:
-European countries no longer have any say in what goes on in the Americas.
-They can't set up new colonies here.
-Setting up new colonies in the Americas would constiture an act of war agains the USA

What it meant was "The Americas are the USA's sphere of influence. Stay the hell out and we'll leave you alone too."

Regarding your question, Onhell, there's a voice in my head saying it was the Council of Trent, but I think that's wrong

yup it is wrong. and is it Munro or Monroe? [!--emo&:D--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/biggrin.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'biggrin.gif\' /][!--endemo--] I'll give you guys a hint, the inquisition was at it's highest in the 16th century, things take time to get rolling so it had to happen like two or THREE centuries earlier...

on of the councils of the Lateran, then?

either the third or fourth, I think....they had to do with the penalties against heretics, didn't they?

OH so close yet so far, you can't mention two and expect to get away with it. So finish the answer What Lateran Council was it, third or fourth?

No. and since the answer is now obvious it is up for grabs. [!--emo&:D--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/biggrin.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'biggrin.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

Name all of Gawain's brothers.

In Malory's Morte Darthur, the Orkney clan consists of four brothers:

Gawain, the 3rd best knight in the kingdom
Gaheris and Agravaine, the trouble-makers who cause things to go all to hell in Tale VIII
Gareth, aka Beaumaines, who is the 3rd best knight in the kingdom and accidently killed by Lancelot.

Whoops, my bad

Gawain is supposed to be 4th best
Gareth is 3rd best
Tristram is, in my opinion, 2nd best
Lancelot, of course, is the best knight in the kingdom

Some commentators place Lancelot and Tristram on an equal footing, but I would give Lancelot the edge because of his actions in Tale VII

is Tristram (also the name of the town in Diablo hehe) the guy that leaves the round table and eventually fights Lancelot?

Galahad is Lancelot's son, and is sometimes considered the best knight...BUT he doesn't really prove himself in the same way as the others. All he really does is find the grail.

I don't recall Tristram and Lancelot ever fighting, as it would have violated the Round Table Oath. I only skimmed the section of the Morte about him though, so it's certainly possible.

The only times I know of that Arthur's knights fought against each other are when Gareth and Lancelot take on the other knights in a tournament (which was just for fun) and in Tale VIII when the Round Table divides into two factions (those loyal to Lancelot and those loyal to Arthur)

OH ok, I was just going on the movie with Richard Gere and Sean Connery where Lancelot is basically a drifter who happens to be good with a sword, wins over Arthur's trust (and his lady hehe) and there is a spot missing at the round table... that of who used to be Arthur's best knight, and now worst nightmare.... so don't listen to me [!--emo&:D--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/biggrin.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'biggrin.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

In the version I have, Lancelot and Tristram take a field on the same day, but Lancelot refuses to ride into the tournament until after Tristram is struck down. Then Lance comes in and kicks ass.

Well no matter as Hollywood has taken care of telling the 'true' story about our beloved king Arthur hahahaha. anywho new question.

What did John Calvin AND St. Agustine say on their death bed that were eerily similar?
It can be paraphrased of course [!--emo&:D--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/biggrin.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'biggrin.gif\' /][!--endemo--]
