I'm tempted to say it was silent. Sound (as we typically define here on Earth) requires a more-or-less stationary medium to travel through. Because all the matter of the universe would have been moving simultaneously after the Big Bang, there was no stationary medium in which sound waves could have existed.

Those are my gut feelings about it, but I'd be interested in what Discovery Channel had to say about it.

I agee with SMX. The sound couldn't possibly propagate around, as there was no matter to sustain the vibrations. I'm thinking I just said what SMX said, only simpler. Scientists have speculated that instead of a 'Bang' the sound created was a high pitched squeeking, although I'm not sure how they came up with that.

The ancient Olympic Games began in the year 776 BC, when Koroibos, a cook from the nearby city of Elis, won the stadion race, a foot race 600 feet long. According to some literary traditions, this was the only athletic event of the games for the first 13 Olympic festivals or until 724 BC. From 776 BC, the Games were held in Olympia every four years for almost 12 centuries. Contrary evidence, both literary and archaeological, suggests that the games may have existed at Olympia much earlier than this date, perhaps as early as the 10th or 9th century BC.
