It's taught me to be more careful with whom to trust, that's for sure.

Yeah, having your trust blasted apart is kinda a earth-shaker.  When that happened to me, i felt rocked for a long time over it, and it makes it hard to trust anyone for a while.

Here's something I've been pondering on: How could somebody want to dominate other people? How could somebody want others to subordinate themselves to oneself? How could somebody want someone to do whatever they say?

I mean, I can't imagine that. I should think that would be extremely boring and unsatisfactory. People are only interesting when they have their own minds and do their own things. I've met so many people who subordinate themselves to others and define themselves over relationships to others, and they have all had extremely boring personalities.

I mean, I just don't understand it. I've really tried to, but it wouldn't go into my head. Can somebody explain to me where the pleasure and fulfillment in such things lie?

From what I have seen, it has been people that feel like they have no control over their own life.  They, then, try to control others, to make up for their own percieved lack of control.  JUst my 2 cents worth.

Well, the part with the 500 Euros is a bit older, but until this week, that was my ultimate definition of a rat... but now that vermin has company.

I do sympathise with your luck of late, but I hope this set of experiences hasn't made you automatically put up a guard when dealing with someone you have not met before. Yes, these people should earn your trust (and vice-versa) but you have to let them in at some point - if you see what I mean.

Personally, I have not really had any experience of people shafting me, but my wife has and now she can be very judgemental about people at times - which doesn't really help.

I've been kicked in the balls by the steel toed boots of life so many times, I pretty much treat everybody I meet as a potential criminal or con artist.

Funnily enough, I just took delivery this very day a new pair of steel-toe-capped boots - and I've been waiting weeks for them. Now, I have to break 'em in. Really nice pair of boots though.

Funnily enough I've never had steel-toed boots, but I've had army combat boots since I can remember. My dad, retired Mexican army Lt. Colonel, got us pairs all the time growing up and even 4 years ago he got me a pair I'm sure I left lol. It's ok, because my ex, an E-7, got me a pair last month and they are different from the Mexican boots.

I wear 'biker boots' a lot...tall heel, deep tread, 'oil resistant soul'.  Tho never had steel toed boots.

Is it just me, or are there currently some funny vibes in the air? Somehow, I've got the feeling that something is seriously wrong.

Fraud, waste and abuse! Fraud, waste and abuse! But yes Per, there is something strange in the air. Australia is burning and it feels like April in most of the US, not February.... and Obama took his first trip to Camp David. Hmmmm......

Funny you should say that, but I have had some real morbid thoughts of late - stuff I would never have thought of before. I've put it down to the current bad weather, bad economic climate and little or nothing to get excited about in the near future.

But I'm still smiling - just. :D

I'm with you John/Albie.... it is a weird gut feeling, but I smile as much as I can!  How's that go?  "Smile and they'll think you are up to something"

Or "Smile, things could get worse." So I did smile and things did get worse.

Onhell, did it ever occur to you that it is you who's not funny?  :P (I'm just joking man)  :ninja:

Edit: So how's it going with the graal Arthur?

NI! NI! NI! BRING ME A SHRUBBERY!
