Paul Di'Anno

Where is your appreciation for what Di'Anno did with Maiden? I don't recall having seen it.

Ah, I see, it was a sad attempt at being sarcastic whilst quoting a message in which I said that I really appreciate what Paul did with Maiden.

I might be mistaken, but you seem to have some problems accepting people's opinions when they are different to yours and your reactions can be pretty childish. Now you can report me again if you wish. :D

This has not to do with my opinion on Di'Anno. Here's what happened.

I honestly remember that you are only negative about ex-members such as Di'Anno. Since you implied that there is some appreciation, I seriously wondered about it. I don't remember having ever seen that. But I may have misremembered because it is hard to find positivity among monsoons of negativity. So, yeah, people can get sarcastic by this behaviour. You didn't get the sarcasm (or acted like that) and asked what I meant, and then I asked you to show some of that appreciation. You did not.

I am starting to worry about your reading skills, as this is what I posted in this same topic:

Not my case. I just think benefit cheats or women-beaters are pieces of shit.

Most ex-members seem to be pretty nice and likeable people. Paul DiAnno is not one of them.

On a side note, you seem to take all these things really personally and you seem to have some problems accepting people's opinions/tastes when they are different to yours. I am afraid you would have to learn to live with us. :D

I worry about your reading skills. I'm not talking about the person, nor were you went you ignited my response in the first place. You said:
I really appreciate what he did with Maiden
Meaning: the music, his singing, his contribution, right?

That in itself was a positive comment, but I was curious to see it backed-up. Any examples of this appreciation?

Although it could be argued that Paul's contribution to the music was fairly limited, I think his singing on the first album was great, with a rough visceral voice that fitted the music like a glove. In terms of his contribution to the creative process (based on the songwriting credits, although we now know that they are not that accurate for the first 3 Iron Maiden albums), I think the lyrics to Remember Tomorrow are pretty good and, dare I say it, better than most of Steve's lyrics from the time.

I also like his singing in Killers. However, I do think that the more polished production does not suit his voice that much. I should add I am not that much of a fan of much of the material off Killers, but that is hardly Paul's fault.

Bottom line, and quoting the great Martin Birth, "Paul was ideal for the first two albums... He had a good voice for that period of the band".

Thanks. You described that very well if I may say so.

Thanks and sorry for the reading skills comment. It was kind of tongue-in-cheek, so please do not take it personally. :)

I would add that even though I think Bruce is a vastly superior singer, there are very few early songs in which I prefer his vocals to Paul's (Phantom of the Opera and Remember Tomorrow are the two that stand out).

We got another fine contribution on this page today, @Magnus. Again by a Bruce/Adrian-only fan.
I just thought the video was funny. I don't have any particularly strong feelings about Paul Di'anno one way or the other. "Remember Tomorrow" is great, some other stuff not so much. His singing on the first two Iron Maiden albums was fine for his style, with a number of bright spots.

No need to be so sensitive. You seem to read way more into these posts than is actually there.

Somehow missed this
Paul Di'anno's Battlezone & Paul Di'anno's Killers facebook group shared:

Fighting Back album was released in 1986.

This is Too Much To Heart:

and Welfare Warriors:

Hurley wrote all songs from the album (lyrics by Di'Anno), except "(Forever) Fighting Back" by Bob Falck. (Source: wiki)
and this
Sure, sure. It's hard to keep up with it.

Sad news about John Hurley, R.I.P.

Around 7 hours ago he said on his facebook:
"Update seen the bone specialist not looking good at , so waiting on the surgeon to tell me if I’m being discharged soon and wait until the ulcers have dried up before the op I’m sorry everyone but I can’t do this anymore it’s just too much being shoved around then being told that it can’t be done right now I’ve had it ? Please don’t reply as I can’t get any more stressed with the phone keep buzzing ! Be lucky all as i wasn’t meant to be ??"

He posted more afterwards (last was one hour ago) but nothing to do with the hospital.
