As much as I love Pale Communion, I want something with more bite and less warm 70's tone.

I hope we get a purely metal record with 100% clean singing, honestly.

I agree with all of this, word-for-word, except that I like the warm tone and wouldn't abandon it. That tone sounds pretty good on my Black Sabbath and AC/DC records!

This is pretty exciting news. Hopefully there will be some growlies, but I'm sure it'll be an enjoyable album regardless.

It's like Mendez didn't get the memo about a picture being taken, but Akerfeldt just went with it anyway. Mendez reminds me so much of Charlie from It's Always Sunny.

Hm... Still not metal. Sounds exactly like their last two albums, to be honest. Maybe they're aiming at the same style, but a more approachable form. Obviously, it's difficult to judge after hearing a 20-second snippet...

I liked parts of Heritage, and Pale Communion was even better, but they're missing something without the growlies. Maybe it's the dynamics? They've had some interesting things in that regard without growls (Nepenthe, River) but it doesn't compare to their death metal sound.

I don't know why Mikael thinks death metal is "immature" now, but I wish he'd get over that view.

They are playing near here in October ... $10 tickets ... I'll probably go, not a massive fan of them .. but for $10, WTF

The place they are playing in Dallas (Gas Monkey Live) offers $10 tickets a day before they go on sale to the public if you are on their mailing list ... It is a pretty big venue and for most shows they do a $10 GA promo ($12.50 after the ticket fees) .. I am guessing to fill up the place as much as possible and make it up on the beer sales.

I bought tickets to see Ace Frehley there a few days ago ... also for $10. Anytime a band I even remotely like comes around and they are playing there, I'll try to go see them. Beyond the cheap tickets, it is a really nice venue with good sound and near a ton of really good places to eat before the show .. Including one of the few Gino's East outside of Chicago.

It is cool, this place just opened up a year or so ago and I am seeing a lot more shows than I have in recent years. Most other venues of this general size around here, except House of Blues, are either total dumps, shit sound, in shit neighborhoods (that are also far from my house). Nice place, nice area, 20 minute drive there, and $10 tickets is awesome. Feels like when I used to go see bands of Saxon-level popularity for $0.50 all the way up to $1.50 (if it was a Saturday night show) in the mid/late 80s
