That's a great cover.

Dirge for November clicked with me during a bus trip. It was the trip where I moved from my old hometown to the current one. I listened to the song around 3 am in pitch black when everyone else but the driver and I were asleep. It was fucking powerful. Have loved the song ever since.
Several songs could have that effect in such a situation. ;-)

And that beer should clearly have been called Blackwater Stout.

They said they also have a pale ale coming out in 2016. It better be called April Ethereale.

They should continue to increase their line of beers with the following:

Under the Witbier Moon
Pilsener in the Ivy
Serenity Porter Death
Ale Apparent
The Lager Affinity
Gose of Perdition
Dubbel of the Fall

I can't express my joy that Opeth will be opening for Miaden in Ullevi this summer. They have always been great live and I'm looking forward to hearing some of the newer stuff live.

So when I clicked this thread it took me to the first page instead of the newest post, and I was greeted by this:
So it's a good thing that there are no growls on the new album ;)
:D

Cool new version of Demon of the Fall. Both the acoustic and electric versions are great so it's cool they're mixing them up now.

Opeth signs with Nuclear Blast, new album "Sorceress" due out this fall!

When Symphony X signed with Nuclear Blast, they abandoned prog for more metal. Will Opeth do the same? :ninja:

Exciting news though! But isn't Nuclear Blast a step down from Roadrunner?

Sorceress is a pretty metal album title as well. I'm very surprised, I expected the new album to arrive in 2017.

I'd love them to play metal again... Their first couple of albums were truly outstanding. I think that early Opeth was actually one of the things that introduced me to heavier and darker metal. I remember being blown away by the opening of 'In Mist She Was Standing'... I appreciate some of their recent work but it doesn't really interest me.

Nuclear Blast is definitely a very metal label, so hopefully they embrace that side of their sound a little more. I would love to hear a producer come in and take the helm, leave the songwriting to Mikael, but have someone else in charge of the sound. As much as I love Pale Communion, I want something with more bite and less warm 70's tone.

I hope we get a purely metal record with 100% clean singing, honestly.

I think Cusp of Eternity from the last album is a good place to start. Imagine that song with a harsher guitar sound and there you have it: My expectation from the next Opeth record.

Yeah, the guitar sound is exactly it. I'd be happy with the exact same production and mixing on everything else (bass/drums/vocals/strings/etc), just give the guitar some more bite.

Yea, a lot of those songs could be metal but the production makes them sound a lot less heavier than they really are. Metal with clean vocals would be amazing.

I like the latest two albums a lot, but I also somewhat wish they did something different this time... Like, if he's really that into 70's, he could take his cues from Fripp and Iommi for once.
