It's a press release, why would they say something negative about it?

Not focusing so much on the positive slant as much as the general descriptions of style, direction, no growling ;), and other details. Looks like it will be more of a rock, riff-heavy record than Heritage. Also, production quality by Steven Wilson should be pretty good.

Ah gotcha. Like CFH, I paid less attention to his opinions on the songs and more to his descriptions. Even if there is a positive slant those tend to be accurate, which is good enough for me.

I'm not sure if it's the real thing, but it's definitely Akerfeldt on vocals. It might be from that album with Stevie though. Either way:

Wikipedia removed the date from the "Singles from Pale Communion: Cusp of Eternity - Released: 6 May 2014) part on the Pale Communion page.

Damn. I was really looking forward to hearing this today. Oh well, I shall be content with new Sabaton til August. Opeth's more of a September/October band anyway

Literally everyone throws shit at Opeth for doing prog rock instead of prog death metal. Quite sad. Good thing that Mikael and the crew doesn't care about that.

Bleak's my favorite Opeth song now. Opeth are masters at building up long songs to a masterful ending... just some examples: Bleak, The Drapery Falls, Blackwater Park, Deliverance, A Fair Judgement.

I don't mind the death metal getting thrown out 'cause Mikael's growls suck now... Just the whole transition from their own original style to retro 70's prog rock.
