Will Maiden play something that I have never seen (with this line-up) and will never see again?
End verdict: No.
So call me insane but I'm not going. I have seen it all and I find it hard to believe that Maiden is not going to play El Dorado in 2011.
Of course a Maiden gig is (often) cool regardless of the setlist, but a few surprises, or one song which is not played for ages would be extra nice and worth the money to travel and spend money. For me that's not going to happen.
Positive side of the setlist:
1. Ghost of the Navigator and Blood Brothers have not been played since 2002 (I hadn't seen them since 2000)
2. Paschendale is cool to see again, though for me not as special as Rime or one of the many songs I have never seen before.
3. Breeg is a nice atmospherical and powerful song. I expected it but it ought to be one of the highlights, still.
Negative side of the setlist:
1. Wildest Dreams (Maiden's worst chorus)
2. No More Lies (I dislike the recycling in this song, and the repetitive, simple chorus)
3. Many songs were played recently and the official site gave indeed the wrong idea, saying they would cover whole their whole career. No Killers, no Piece of Mind, no Powerslave, no Somewhere in Time, no Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, no No Prayer for the Dying, no Fear of the Dark*, no The X-Factor, no Virtual XI.
4: No other nineties songs apart from the ever, ever, ever played song:
5: Fear of the Dark.
*I actually could say: No Fear of the Dark album. The importance of the title track has grown immensely out of proportions. The song has been given such a status aparte, that the album itself has virtually become non existent in the setlist.
The upside of this:
1. Since I am not going in 2010 I should have better possibilities to go more than once in 2011 (and I hope to include a foreign concert where I would meet some forummers, e.g. national acrobat and Perun). In 2011 the setlist will be three times as interesting.
2. I can listen to bootlegs.
